Lucille Platt Givens, 77, of Tifton, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Plant City, Fla. Among her survivors are her daughters, Lori Murray of England and Carrie Rowland of Tifton, and her son, Don Givens Jr. of Cumming. Miss Mary Catherine Wilkes, 88, of Lake Park, died Feb. 15, 2013 at Cook Senior Living Center in Adel. Funeral services will take place Monday, at 2 p.m. at 2 pm at the Lake Park United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Antioch United Methodist Church in Cook County at 4 p.m. the same day. The family will receive friends the day of the service at Lake Park United Methodist Church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
