The Tiftarea Academy Panthers and Lady Panthers fell short in their tate tournament efforts this week at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. The Lady Panthers lost Tuesday to Holy Spirit Prep, 48-39 and the Panthers were bounced by Marietta’s Dominion Christian, 57-41.
Tiftarea’s girls had a halftime lead of 22-17, but their opponents erupted with a strong third quarter, outscoring them 13-2. The Lady Panthers played them almost even in the fourth, but were unable to make up the margin. Rachel Thomason led Tiftarea, who finished 14-16, with eight points. Jarrett McWhorter had seven points and 10 rebounds.
The Panthers also had a halftime lead in their contest — they were up by three — but a strong second half propelled Dominion Christian to the 57-41 victory.

County millage rate remains same
Tift County Commissioners voted unanimously in a called meeting Tuesday to keep the millage rate set at 12.183 for both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.

I was able to take a trip down to Tampa this past weekend with my mom to see my niece in her dance recital.We didn’t get to see her dance in her recital. She kept saying she was sick, and we all kept saying, “You’ll be OK...it’s just nerves.”
