Beatrice Buckhanon, 71, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at Tift Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, William Buckhanon. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Burgess Funeral Home.
Fannie Mae Davis, 91, of Tifton died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at South Georgia Rehab Center in Tifton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church and committal services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. A repast/fellowship will conclude at the church social hall. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Southview Mortuary Chapel. She is survived by her children, L.C. King of Tampa, Fla., Allen Davis Sr. and Thomas Davis Sr. and Mary Lewis-Jackson, all of Tifton; and her brothers and sisters, Early Jefferson, Henry Jefferson, Charlie Jefferson, Hurbert Jefferson, Grover Jefferson, Clevland Jefferson, Annie Pearl Thomas, Daisy Jefferson Butler and Annie Bell Belmont. Tattnall Square tops Tiftarea, 6-2
Ernie Banks used to say, "let's play two." In a game that was as long as two and was defined early on by errors and later by a pitching duel, it would be offense that propelled the Tattnall Square Trojans past the Tiftarea Academy Panthers, 6-2 in 14 innings. Tattnall, who won the first game of the series, 4-1 before dropping game two, 6-3, will meet Mount de Sales in the Class AAA semifinals next week.
