The Sarge Dorsey Youth Track Invitational featured competitors from each of the lower school grades.
In first grade events, the 25 meters saw Coleman Mangham finish first, Landon Tucker finish second and Parks Colwell third in boys races. In the girls race, the top three were Audrey Walker (1st), Ridley Sims (2nd) and Kendall Lamb (3rd).
For the 50 meters, the boys top three were Mangham (1st), Tucker (2nd) and Colwell (3rd) and in the girls race, Walker (1st), Nadia Yaeger (2nd) and Sims (3rd).
In the 100 meters, Mangham (1st), Tucker (2nd) and Colwell (3rd) for the boys and Walker (1st), Yaeger (2nd) and Sims (3rd) for the girls.
The field events saw Mangham finish first, Trey Young (2nd) and Lane Fletcher (3rd) in the boys broad jump. Yaeger (1st), Caitlyn Childers (2nd) and Gretchen Kendrick (3rd) were the top three for the girls.
In the softball-put, Jackson Hicks (1st), Tucker (2nd) and Colwell (3rd) were the top three for the boys and Julie Funk (1st), Pyper McCard (2nd) and Kendrick (3rd) were the girls top three.
For the high jump, Tucker (1st), Eli Brickman (2nd) and Jake Henderson (3rd) led in boys competition and Emily Alexis (1st), Sims (2nd) and Jesse Lee Stevens (3rd) were the girls top three.
Every other grade’s individual winners will be printed in editions of The Gazette this week.

Students challenge community, leaders to ‘stop the violence’
