TIFTON —
A Tifton man and juvenile were arrested Sunday, and both were charged with robbing three individuals at a residence on Ponce De Leon Street.
Maj. Bobby Brannen at the Tift County Sheriff’s Office said an armed robbery was reported to the department between 10 and 11 a.m. Sunday. He said three occupants of the residence were robbed by two black males armed with handguns. He said a male occupant was struck in the face with the handgun by the suspects. The man was treated at the scene by Tift County Emergency Medical Services.
Brannen said a small amount of cash was taken by the suspects. He said the suspects were developed and identified and arrested later on Sunday.
Eric Jarnard Green, 19, of 112 Robin St. and a 16-year-old juvenile have been charged with three counts of armed robbery and one count of aggravated assault.
Brannen said Green is being held in the Tift County Jail; no bond has been set. The juvenile is being held in a youth detention center.
Sgt. Cliff Henderson handled the investigation, along with deputies Zach Steed and Luke Jordan.

Two Tift County High School seniors have been honored as 2013 Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education. Masoom (Amy) Chainani and Sara Johnson. They are among only 115 seniors in the entire state who have qualified for this honor, which has extremely strict criteria.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
