Hometown Holidays plans announced

TIFTON — Lequrica Gaskins, chair of the City of Tifton Hometown Holiday Christmas Celebration, announced Thursday that plans are under way for the 14th annual Tifton Hometown Holiday Christmas Celebration Dec.1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9 and 10. This year's theme will be "A Storybook Christmas."

"The Hometown Holiday Christmas Celebration will be more than a feast for the eyes and ears to enjoy as great food joins music and dance as a source of seasonal cheer," said Gaskins. "The festival promises to be a time of family-friendly fun filled with vibrant vocals and the warmth and cheer that has made this time of the year a seasonal tradition for the last past 14th years.

"It's  my favorite time of the year,” Gaskins said, “and celebrating across the community with family and friends make it that much more special."

Known as the Reading Capital of the world, Gaskins said this year’s theme, “A Storybook Christmas,” is sure to be a source of fun and inspiration to create an atmosphere of a magical holiday. Attendees can look forward to a community festival with fabulous foods and craft vendors, live entertainment, new carnival rides, CASA play houses, train rides, a visit from Jolly Ole Saint Nick and more.

"Our Christmas parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1," she said. "As Mayor, J.G. “Jamie” Cater will lead the way as our 2012 parade’s Grand Marshal. The parade will feature classic cars, floats, marching bands, military units, drill teams, and many other community participants. The Hometown Holiday Christmas Celebration parade has become one of our City’s signature events and we are honored to be able to present it to the public. "

All vendor’s forms and parade applications can be retrieved by going to the website at www.tifton.net or downtowntifton.com.

"The spirit of the season reigns at the event, which can be enjoyed for FREE because of the generous support of our local community sponsors," said Gaskins. "Without the support of individuals and businesses within the community, we would not be able to offer this successful, quality event. On behalf of everyone touched by the festival, our thanks go out to our sponsors.

"We are still accepting sponsorship and donation for this year’s festivities."

To become a sponsor, contact Gaskins at 391-3966. Donations are tax deductible.

"Thank you, Tifton, for your continued support," she said. "More detailed information about this year’s festival will follow soon."
