TIFTON —
The Tift County Blue Devils will be looking to go to 2-1 on the football season tonight when they play host to the Worth County Rams at Brodie Field.
“They are a good team like always,” Tift Head Coach John Reid said of the Rams.
Offensively Worth features what Reid called “a good mix” between the running of Tay Sweeney and the receiving of Lavontae Robinson. The quarterback is Eli Reddell.
On the other side of the ball, “They play a 4-4 and are a good, solid defensive football team,” Reid said.
The Devils will finally be at home tonight, so it will be the first time this season that home fans will be able to see one of the state’s hottest backs, Rashad Daniels.
A senior, Daniels has over 600 yards on the ground this season in just two games. That includes a school record total of 368 against Houston County last week.
Reid said the offensive line has done a good job of opening holes for Daniels, and he also praised the work of Tift quarterback Ryan Wedgeworth.
Defensively the Devils held Houston to only seven points last week, and have done pretty well this season.
Reid said the Devils are healthy, except for a, “few bumps and bruises.”
He also said the team is excited about being at home tonight.
“We hope to have a big crowd at the game. We are an exciting football team, and fans will see some good, hard-nosed football from us,” said Reid.
The game will be broadcast on 107.5 and 95.7. There will be no Internet broadcasts of the games this season.
Game time is 8 p.m.

Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
