TIFTON — Tift County Blue Devil Donell Tuff (22), shown blocking a shot against St. Anthony (N.J.) this past season, verbally committed to Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina this week. Gardner-Webb is a Division I school that plays in the Big South Conference. The Bulldogs finished 21-13 this past season and participated in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Tift County head coach Dr. Eric Holland said Tuff had offers from several other Division I schools, but indicated that Tuff liked the fact that Gardner-Webb was relatively close to home, and that also he felt he would get a chance to play right away. After averaging 13 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocked shots per game as a senior, Tuff will be playing in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association’s North-South Senior All-Star Game Saturday.
