Jayvee Devils knock off Valdosta, 16-7

TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devils junior varsity football team went down to “Death Valley” in Valdosta Thursday and came back with a 16-7 victory.

Jordan Powell contributed eight of the Devil points with a touchdown and a two-point conversion.

Malik Henry also added a touchdown, while Michael Hancock added the other two points on a conversion.

The news was not as good for the Tift freshman team, which fell 8-6 to Valdosta.

The varsity Blue Devils will open their 2012 season tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Albany’s Hugh Mills Stadium against the Westover High Patriots.
