No holiday for local law enforcement

TIFTON — Local law enforcement officers responded to several incidents over the holiday weekend, which included an armed robbery, burglaries, thefts and other incidents.

According to an incident report filed at the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, a 28-year-old man reported Friday morning that while he was at a residence on Pickard Avenue, a subject or subjects took his money at gunpoint and then fled on foot. The report states that approximately $2,500 was stolen.

In other unrelated cases:

• A man reported Saturday that several items were taken from his business, H & H Convenience Store, located on South Main Street.

• A woman who lives in the 80 block of Richards Drive reported Sunday that her apartment was burglarized.

• The glass door on the south side of the business, Benton Seafood, located on South Central Avenue, was reported shattered Sunday night. Officers arrived on scene and reported that the glass from the door was lying on the floor and ground around the door frame. The owner arrived on scene and stated that it did not appear that anything was missing, the report states. The damage was estimated at approximately $250.

• A man reported Sunday that someone took the window unit from his residence, located in the 100 block of Perdue Road. The report states that the unit is estimated at a value of $200.

• A man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly made lewd gestures and comments to a woman at a local business on South Virginia Avenue. The woman told police that the offender also continued to ask for her name and number while she was shopping. The report states that Dalmal Lopez, 35, 155 Parkway Drive, Lot 46, was charged with loitering.

• A 52-year-old woman reported Saturday that after she picked up her and her husband’s prescriptions from a local pharmacy, she was approached by two white males driving a blue Mazda truck as she was traveling home in the area of Dixie Avenue. She told police that the passenger asked for directions to a business, and after obtaining the directions, the subject snatched the bag of medicines and the vehicle drove off.
