Mrs. Virginia Pearce Scarbor, 84, of Omega died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Scarbor will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Omega Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Smith and Dr. Terrell Ruis officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include caregivers Jonelle Turner Henry, Francisine Stokes, Pam Rhodes and members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Scarbor was born March 10, 1928 in Colquitt County to the late B. C. and Pearl Cordell Pearce. She lived in Tift County most of her life, working as office manager for Scarbor and Sons Farms and as a homemaker. Very active in her church, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, loved her family, organizing family reunions, cooking, gardening and growing flowers. Mrs. Scarbor was a graduate of Norman Park High School. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Scarbor, who died in November 2010, and a grandson, Stan Scarbor, who died in April 1989.
Survivors include her husband, William “Willie” Nathan Scarbor; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Regena Scarbor of Omega; a daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Marcus Evans of Omega; grandchildren Joe and Sabrina Scarbor, Chad and Kelly Scarbor, Brad and Liza Scarbor, Jennifer Bennett, Pate and Rebecca Kincaid, Megan Scarbor, Michael and Jessica Harrison, II, Benji Shan Scarbor; great grandchildren Reilly Bennett, Loralee Bennett, Ethan Scarbor, Ava Kincaid, Temple Kincaid, Keith Scarbor, LilyAnne Scarbor, Hailey Scarbor, Zach Scarbor and Ella Kate Harrison; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Otis Jones of Tifton and Sandra and Milton Mercer of Omega.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Southern Care Hospice for their love and support. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Alzheimers Association, Southwest Georgia Regional Office, 315 W 2nd Street, Tifton, GA 31794.

Tiftarea-Tattnall split
The quarterfinals series between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers and defending state Class AAA champions Tattnall Square Trojans matched up two of the top teams in the state and after two games, the battle has been a stalemate. The Trojans won the first game 4-1, while the Panthers took game two, 6-3. Game three will be today at 2 p.m.
