FITZGERALD — Fitzgerald’s Taylen Gaulden picks up yardage Friday night against the ECI Bulldogs during the preseason scrimmage for both teams. The Purple Hurricanes will make the long trip up to Louisville Friday night to face the Jefferson County Warriors in Fitzgerald’s regular season opener. They will return home Aug. 31 to face Irwin County.

Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
