Winnie Jay Pitts, 89, of Tifton went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Rehabilitation Services of South Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Tift Avenue Church of God. The Rev. Jack Perrin will officiate with burial to follow at Leila Methodist Church Cemetery in Colquitt County. Jay Perrin, Chuck Perrin, Derek Pitts, Kurt Pitts, Terry Brewer, Josh Winter and Troy Parsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the home of Marian and Jack Perrin, 382 White Water Road in Chula.
Mrs. Pitts was born on Feb. 24, 1923 in Whitfield County and was the daughter of the late Willis Carl Jay and Ella Mae Roberson Jay. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Pete Jay and a brother-in-law, Shorty Ellis. She was a homemaker and a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mrs. Pitts is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul H. Pitts, whom she married Feb. 7, 1945; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Wendy Pitts of Charlotte, North Carolina, Wendell and Phyllis Pitts of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Marian and Jack Perrin of Waterloo; a brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Nell Jay of Marietta; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mildred and Glenn Stephens of Webster, Florida and Gladys Ellis of Covington; a sister-in-law, Betty Jay of Omega; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jay and Kim Perrin of Leesburg, Kimi and Terry Brewer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Crystal and Troy Parsons of Waterloo, Chuck and Anna Perrin of Waterloo, Derek and Brooke Pitts of Winder and Kurt and Molly Pitts of Tifton; and her great-grandchildren, Savannah, Luke, David and Paul Brewer, Andrea, Madeline, Jacob, Abby and Jackson Perrin, Josh, Brady and Perrin Grace Winter, Luke Parsons and Caroline Pitts.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Tift Avenue Church of God, 2220 Tift Avenue North, Tifton 31794.
