TIFTON — The Tift County Gym Devils won their first meet of the 2013 season Friday night at Dream It Gymnastics in Tifton. The Gym Devils easily outpaced second place Lowndes, 109.45-97.425. Tift’s Beth Roberts was the high individual scorer with 38.450 points to take the top all-around in the meet. Teammate Libby Barbour was second with 35.350.

“Keep calm and stop the violence,” “Save our streets” and “No more violence” were the words echoed by Eighth Street Middle School students early Tuesday morning as they stood in front of the school behind caution tape and orange cones, shouting and holding up signs as they waved at passing motorists who smiled and returned the gesture.
