William Alvin Boyd Sr., 86, of Crescent City, Fla. died March 6, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday. He is survived by his children, William Boyd Jr. of Crescent City, Fla., Lisa Dorsey and Karen Allegood, both of Norman Park. Tift County almost pulled off an incredible feat this year, having two teams in the baseball quarterfinals.. It was a great year for baseball at all area schools, all eight of them in the postseason. Both Kyle Kirk's Tift County Blue Devils and Brad Porter's Tiftarea Academy Panthers came within an eyelash of doing even better: the final four.
