PUBLIC NOTICE

TIFTON — The Tift County appraisal staff will be reviewing property in southeast Tift County south of Ferry Lake Road and east of I-75 to Cook/Berrien counties this week. The purpose of the property review is for verification of property records. Call the assessors office at 386-7840 for more information.



FARMERS' MARKET

TIFTON — The farmer's market will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. today. The market will be CLOSED Saturday in honor of the July 4 holiday. It will re-open July 11 and will continue through the month of July. The farmer’s market is located at the corner of Tift and Third, on the train museum platform. Class reunion

TIFTON — The Tifton Ballroom Dance Club will not have a dance Saturday due to the holiday. The club’s next dance will be in August.



COMMUNITY GARDENING 101

TIFTON — Like the victory gardens of old, modern-day community gardens help bring people together during hard times to grow their own food. Learn about community gardening efforts in Tifton and throughout the state and how you can get involved at Community Gardening 101 led by Leeann Culbreath of the Keep Tift Beautiful board at 7 p.m. July 7 at the Agrirama museum screening room. 



MISS PEPPER PAGEANT

TIFTON — Omega’s fifth annual Miss Pepper Festival Pageant will be held at 6 p.m. July 18 at the Tift Theatre. Entry deadline is July 10. All contestants will compete in the evening gown competition. Contact Sheila or Karla Bryan for more information at misspepperpageant@yahoo.com.



GREENWOOD COMMITTEE

TIFTON — The Greenwood Cemetery Committee asks all men who have a loved one buried in the cemetery to come to a meeting at 3 p.m. July 11 at Springfield Baptist Church. All churches are asked to send at least two representatives.



Old-Fashioned Day

WILLACOOCHEE — The 30th annual Willacoochee Old-Fashioned Day Celebration will be held July 11 and 12 at City Park in Willacoochee. All clubs, organizations, churches and individuals may attend. There will be arts and crafts, food, entertainment and a parade. For more information call Willacoochee City Hall at (912) 534-5152.

ALAPAHA — The Griffin, Solomon and Webb reunion will be held July 19 at Mount Paran Primitive Baptist Church social hall, northeast of Alapaha. Bring a covered dish and bring family pictures and history to share.



Scholarship pageant

MACON — The Georgia State Agriculture Scholarship Pageant will be held Aug. 1 at Tattnall Square Academy in Macon. All Ages may participate. Teen and Miss must reside, work or attend school in the state of Georgia. MISS TIFT COUNTY

TIFTON — Applications are not being taken for the 4th annual Miss Tift County Scholarship Pageant to be held Aug. 15 at the Tift Theatre. The age divisions are Baby, Teeny, Tiny, Little, Petite, Junior, Teen and Miss (ages 6 months to 23 years). All divisions are open to contestants outside Tift County. TIFTON — The second printing of The Tift County Heritage Books is now available to purchase for $70. There are only 200 copies of the second printing of the "Tift County Heritage Book, 1905-2003," sponsored by "Tift County Genealogical Society." Summer Reading Program

TIFTON — Children of all ages are invited to “Be Creative!” during the Tifton-Tift County Public Library’s 2009 Vacation Reading Program. Each child will receive a log book to record the titles of books they read this summer, and incentive prices are awarded for every 10 books read and recorded in the reading log.
