Bowling 4 Seniors

and Raffle Tickets

TIFTON — The Leroy Rogers Senior Center and Bowling 4 Seniors are selling raffle tickets for the second annual "Bowling 4 Seniors" tournament to be held Oct. 13. Tickets are $2 or three for $5. First prize will be $500, second prize will be $250. The tournament will benefit older adults and people with disabilities in Tifton and the Southern Georgia Regional area.



Savannah and

River Street Trip

TIFTON — The Leroy Rogers Seniors will travel to Georgia’s oldest city Oct. 30. A guided tour conducted on a deluxe motor coach of the historic district will highlight the history including churches, cemeteries, homes and famous squares. A special lunch will be included at the world-famous Paula Deen’s Lady and Sons Restaurant. The afternoon will be highlighted with a visit to River Street for free time to shop or enjoy the waterfront. Cost is $99, space is limited. Deadline is Oct. 15. Reunion

TIFTON — The TCHS Class of 1972 will be holding its 40th class reunion Oct. 19-20. Please save the date. We are still looking for many classmates. You may drop off contact information at the Tift County Library or contact Polly Wetherington Fleming at pftwirl@windstream.net. Information is needed to send an invitation with all of the details.



Trick or Treat

TIFTON — Tifton's Downtown businesses will hold its trick or treating from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Candy will be free to all costumed children age 12 and under. Maps will be available at the Tifton Terminal Railway, located beside La Cabana. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Drama Camp

TIFTON — After School Drama Camp will be held every Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30  until 6 p.m. For more information call Dottie Freeman 256-7354.



Rehearsal

TIFTON — The Tifton Choral Society has begun rehearsing for its Christmas 2012 concert. If you are a singer and lover of choral music, you are invited to join rehearsals each Monday night at 7 p.m. at St. Anne’s Episcopal in Tifton. Donations Needed

TIFTON — The Salvation Army needs donations of canned food items and clothing. They are also looking for volunteers. Come by The Salvation Army Service Center. at 1205 HWY 82 E.,  Tifton. Store hours are 10-6 Monday- Saturday.



Tift County

Land Maps

TIFTON — The Tift County land maps are still available, 1910 and 1929 at $10 each. The Georgia State Map in color dated 1885 is now available for $10 also. The earlier State Historic map showing Indian Trails and historic sites in Georgia is still available for a donation. Call Gladys Wiseman at 382-4137 to get your map. Tifton City Maps are also available at the Mormon Church Family Life Center for your viewing: 1898, 1903,1912, and 1924, compliments of Bob Gressette. Call Jim Golden at 392-3905 to set up a time to view these maps at the Mormon Church. The Tift County Heritage Book is still available for $70. The sale of these maps and the book are sponsored by the Tift County Genealogical Society. Three of these maps were donated to TCGS by Sally Atwater Carmichael, originally from Tifton, who received them from her mother, Sara Cochran Atwater, past Regent of the Tallassee Chapter NSDAR.



Heritage Books

TIFTON — The Tift County Genealogical Society has fewer than 70 of the Heritage Books of Tift County (1905-2003), second printing, left to sell.  They are $70 each. Please call Bill Wiseman at 382-4137; Jean Courson at 382-1046; or Raymond Howell at 776-3630; or see at “Tift Eye Care” or  “Moon’s Pharmacy.”



Farmer’s Market

TIFTON — Downtown Tifton Farmer’s Market is held in Downtown Tifton every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon. The Downtown Farmer’s Market offers a unique family adventure where you can find a bounty of fresh, sustainably-grown produce and artisan food, gourmet coffee beans, great fellowship, live entertainment and more.
