TIFTON — Meeting

TIFTON — The Tallassee Chapter NSDAR will meet for the  "Constitution  Week Dinner"  Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. at  The Tifton Conference Center.  Please send your check/reservation of $15 to Liz Keith, 1421 Ty Ty Omega Rd, Tifton, GA 31793. Guest Speaker will be Hon. John Dickie Crosby, State Senate, District 13.  For further information call Regent Liz Keith at 339-0500.



Memorial Walk

ENIGMA — The annual Jason Cook Memorial Walk will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at Enigma City Park. There will be a Little Miss Cook Memorial Beauty Pageant, Womanless Beauty Pageant, Talent Show and Concessions. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Admissions price covers all activities except concessions. All proceeds will go toward the Jason Cook Memorial Scholarship that is awarded to a graduating senior each year. Bring lawn chairs. Meeting

TIFTON — The IAAP Tiftarea Chapter would like to invite all area Administrative Professionals to its Sept. 18 meeting.  It will be held on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Conger Hall Room 108 from 6 until 7 p.m. Ms. Janet Weaver, Enterprise Developer I from ABAC, will be presenting "Social Media and the Internet for Administrative Professionals.”  



Driver Safety Program

TIFTON — The Leroy Rogers Center, 315 W. Second St., is hosting the new 6-hour AARP Driver Safety Program. By completing this six-hour, driver safety program from 1 until 4 p.m. Sept. 19-20, seniors may earn up to a 20 percent discount on their current automobile insurance premium. AARP developed this six-hour classroom refresher to help drivers 50 years and older to improve their skills and prevent crashes. It covers age-related physical changes, rules of the road, and updates on recent changes in the laws. To obtain class reservations call or email JB 229-388-8352 (jobob@mindspring.com). Cost is $14 per person, with a $2 discount for AARP members with card.



Meeting

TIFTON — The Tift County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. September 20 at the Family History Center, corner of Murray Ave. and 24th St.  Members, potential members, and those interested in local history are invited to attend. Pageant

TIFTON — The First Miss Memory Maker Blue Jean Pageant will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 22, at the Tift Theatre, as a benefit for the Memory Maker team in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Seminar

TIFTON — A Watershed Seminar for Willacoochee, Withlacoochee, Alapaha and Little River Systems will be held at 10 a.m.  September 22 at the NESPAL building on Rainwater Rd. The seminar is free. Register online at: www.wwals.net (click on events).

 

Walk

TIFTON — The Tifton Walk to End Alzheimer's will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 29 at ABAC. John Berry will perform as Honorary Chair of the Walk. Family Reunion

MOULTRIE — The 25th annual Hancock reunion will be held Sept. 28-29 at Bridgecreek Primitive Baptist Church located eight miles west of Moultrie on Highway 37. Dinner will be held Sept. 28 at Applebee's (near the Hampton Inn) then gather for a genealogical exchange in the meeting room of the Hampton Inn. The morning of Sept. 29 Fred Knowles will present a program at Bridgecreek Primitive Baptist Church. Trick or Treat

TIFTON — Tifton's Downtown businesses will hold its trick or treating from 5 until 6:30 p.m. October 31. Candy will be free to all costumed children age 12 and under. Maps will be available at the Tifton Terminal Railway, located beside La Cabana. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bowling 4 Seniors and

Raffle Tickets

TIFTON — The Leroy Rogers Senior Cneter and Bowling 4 Seniors are selling raffle tickets for the second annual "Bowling 4 Seniors" tournament to be held Oct. 13. Tickets are $2 or three for $5. First prize will be $500, second prize will be $250. The tournament will benefit older adults and people with disabilities in Tifton and the Southern Georgia Regional area.



Reunion

TIFTON — The TCHS Class of 1972 will be holding its 40th class reunion October 19-20. Please save the date. We are still looking for many classmates. You may drop off contact information at the Tift County Library or contact Polly Wetherington Fleming at pftwirl@windstream.net. Information is needed to send an invitation with all of the details.



Arts, Eats and Auction

TIFTON — The fifth annual chili, cornbread, dessert tasting and competition at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Nov. 10. A silent auction of creative, functional services and items will start at 5 p.m. and original art will be available to purchase. The event supports the Food Box Ministry providing monthly boxes to needy senior citizens in the community with specific dietary health needs.
