Farmer's Market

TIFTON — The Saturday farmers' market is now closed. The First Thursday markets will still be open each month from 4-7 p.m. at the train museum depot, corner of Tift and Third in downtown Tifton. For more information, call Fran at the Main Street Program, 556-7439.



Santa’s Helpers

TIFTON — Santa’s Helpers, a United Way agency, is accepting donations of new toys, books, clothing, or money to assist with their Christmas program which has been serving children of Tift County since 1982. Donations may be made at the United Way office, 211 W. Fourth St., the Mell Baptist Association office, 4022 N. Tift Ave., The Tifton Gazette, 211 N. Tift Ave., or by mail at P.O. Box 557, Tifton, GA 31793. The program served 1,500 children in Tift County last year and needs your help to continue to serve these deserving children who otherwise might have no gifts. Ages served in the program are birth to 12 years. For more information on making a donation, you may call 382-2881 or 386-0865.



North Pole Express

TIFTON — From 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19, visit the Georgia Agrirama to hear Mrs. Claus read the book “Polar Express.” Then ride the North Pole Express Train to the North Pole and visit with Santa and his elves. Seasonal refreshments will be served. All children will receive a small gift. Tickets are $6 per person and must be purchased in advance at either Western Auto or the Georgia Agrirama.



Lions Club

TIFTON — The Tifton’s Lion Club will meet at noon today at the Golden Corral. Guest speaker will be a past DGP who will speak on the Melvin Jones Award.



Library Club

TIFTON — The Tifton 20th Century Library Club will meet at noon today at the United Way building. The International Affairs Department will host the meeting. Members are reminded to bring items for nursing home residents.
