Property review

TIFTON — The Tift County appraisal staff will be reviewing property in the following locations through Friday of this week: Building permits issued by the Office of Building and Zoning during December 2009; review area includes the City of Tifton and all areas of Tift County. Mobile home reviews in the southeast quadrant of Tift County — south of Ferry Lake Road and east of I-75. The purpose of the property review is verification of property records and mobile home decal display. For more information, call the assessor’s office at 386-7840.



Elks & Auxiliary

TIFTON — The Elks Lodge and Auxiliary will meet tonight for their regular meeting. Dinner is available at 6:30 with the meetings to begin at 7:30. The Auxiliary will elect new officers for 2010. The Auxiliary program will be presented by Mary Price representing Beauticontrol. All members are urged to attend.



DDA

TIFTON — The Downtown Development Authority will meet at noon today at the Tifton Welcome Station, 504 Main St. For more information, contact Fran Kinchen at 556-7439.



School Council

TIFTON —Annie Belle Clark School Council will meet at noon today.



DAR MEETING

TIFTON — The Tallassee Chapter of the NSDAR will hold its monthly meeting at 6 tonight at Shoney's Restaurant, Highway 82. The program will be “The American Indians in Georgia” presented by Dr. Gary Roberts. For more information, call Charlotte McMillan, 386-4629, or Loraine Sullivan, 386-5527. All members are urged to come; prospective members and guests are welcome.



Lions Club

TIFTON — The Tifton Lions Club will meet at noon today at the Golden Corral. Lion Gary Gascho will give a slide presentation on Panama.



Public Demonstration

TIFTON — The Atlantic Coastline Artist Guild will be hosting a free demonstration for the public by the watercolorist, Joye Moon, at 6 tonight in the Guild building, 119 Love Ave.



Genealogical Society

TIFTON — The Tift County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Family History Center, corner of 24th Street and Murray Avenue. For more information, call Kenneth Willis, 382-8749, or Carolyn Abell, 382-1020.



Driver Safety Class

TIFTON — The Leroy Rogers Senior Center will be hosting the AARP Driver Safety Program from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday. AARP developed this eight-hour classroom refresher to help drivers 50 years and older to improve their skills and prevent crashes. It covers age-related physical changes, rules of the road and updates on recent changes in the laws. Garden CLub Bridge

TIFTON — The Tifton Council of Garden Clubs will hold its monthly afternoon bridge from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Fulwood Garden Center. Camellia Garden Club will host the event. Call 382-0396 or 391-9284 to reserve a table.



Farmer's Market

TIFTON — The Saturday farmers' market is now closed. The First Thursday markets will still be open each month from 4-7 p.m. at the train museum depot, corner of Tift and Third in downtown Tifton. For more information, call Fran at the Main Street Program, 556-7439.



GTF Donations

TIFTON — A local special medical account has been set up under the name Mary McAllister at Ameris Bank, corner of Old Ocilla Highway and 20th Street, to accept donations for the Georgia Transplant Foundation. Donations can also be mailed to Georgia Transplant Foundation, 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 600 Embassy Row Suite 250, Atlanta, GA 30328.
