No mug big enough for Coffee players

TIFTON — A lot of restaurant chains advertise bottomless mugs of coffee.
Those mugs would have to be even bigger to hold the impressive size of the Coffee High Trojans football team.
Coffee will come into Brodie Field Friday to face the Tift County Blue Devils in a Region 1-AAAAA encounter.
Coach Jerry Odum’s Trojans are so big that even the roster looks out of whack.
Most football rosters have “skill” players listed near the top.
Coffee’s No. 7, Fred Moore, is a defensive tackle that weighs 291 pounds.
Moore is one of 45 Coffee players that weigh more than 200 pounds. Of those 45 players, 23 weigh 230 pounds or more.
Of those players, perhaps the most well-known is offensive guard B.J. Brand, rated as the 28th highest prospect in the nation at his position by Scout.com.
Brand (6-foot-4, 324 pounds) verbally committed to Georgia early in the recruiting process, but withdrew the committment.
He is still considering the Bulldogs, along with Florida, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina State and South Carolina.
While he is not as big as Brand, junior C.J. Mizell is also being heavily recruited. The linebacker (6-foot-2, 222) has already received offers from Georgia and Florida.
Tift will hope to balance the size and skill advantage out with players like Zach Allen and Josh Abbott.
Allen (6-foot-2, 302) is an offensive tackle that has already committed to North Carolina State.
Abbott (5-foot-11, 205) is beginning to draw attention of college scouts as a junior linebacker.
He was honorable-mention All-State last season and leads the 2007 Devils with 51 total tackles in five games.
Coffee will enter the game with a 5-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in region play.
The Trojans have averaged 30.2 points per game this year and have given an average of 14.7 points per contest.
Tift is 3-2 overall and 0-1 in league play after a 27-26 loss to Valdosta last week.
The Devils have averaged 23.8 points per contest and have given up an average of 14.6 points per game.
Game time is 8 p.m. Friday.
