Gas prices in S. Ga. barely budge

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices around South Georgia stayed fairly stable in the past week, following state and national trends.

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Valdosta Monday was $2.93, down two cents from seven days earlier, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

— The lowest gas price reported Monday in Valdosta was $2.72 at a Bemiss Road retailer, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com.

— The lowest gas price reported Monday in Tifton was $2.69 per gallon at two stores, one on US Hwy. 82 W. and Tift Avenue North.

— Thomasville’s lowest reported gas price Monday was $2.76 per gallon at a store on US-19.

— The lowest gas price reported in Moultrie Monday was $2.79 per gallon at a pair of stores, both on US-319N.

Valdosta had the sixth-highest average fuel price Monday among the 15 Georgia markets monitored by the auto club: below Savannah, Macon, Hinesville, Athens and Atlanta but above Warner Robins, Rome, Gainesville, Dalton, Columbus, Catoosa, Brunswick, Augusta and Albany.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline Monday was $3.06 per gallon, down a penny since the previous week, while Georgia’s average of $2.93 per gallon was unchanged over the same period, AAA said.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand plunged from 9.38 million b/d last week to 8.41. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks rose slightly from 206.9 million barrels to 208.9, while gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.3 million barrels daily, AAA said..
