Good employer

“In response to ‘Common problem’: Not every workplace treats the hard workers poorly. Tift Regional Medical Center recognizes the dedication and hard work that their employees do, and they reward that hard work. I’m proud to be an employee at an establishment that promotes from within and promotes the cream-of-the-crop!”

Hats off

“Kudos to the Enterprise car rental agency in Tifton. They really offered wonderful attention and customer service while my car was being repaired after my accident. Hats off!”

Bells and whistles

“Perhaps animal control could afford more employees if we didn’t purchase such expensive vehicles. Why do we need $40,000 trucks for animal control? For that matter, why are the majority of the vehicles used in the city and county the most expensive? Do they really need all those bells and whistles?

Food for thought

“A skateboard park? How much will it cost? What kind of liability will the city have? How many children will really use it? Who will police it? How long will the interest last? Perhaps a teen center would beter serve the majority of the kids, not just a handful. Just food for thought.”

What happened?

“Welcome to Tifton: The Friendly City, Best Small Town, Reading Capital of the World…and soon to be the ‘Ticket City of the South.’ What’s happened to southern hospitality?”

Cost of business

“County commissioners, what funeral home directors are losing in paupers’ funerals is the cost of doing business. They make up this cost by charging the bereaved more. So an expense that should properly be borne by the county taxpayers as a whole is disproportionately borne by the bereaved. Pay the funeral directors the cost of paupers’ funerals.”

Pave the streets

“I’d like to put a Rant and Rave in the paper about the streets being paved in Tifton. I think they should pave the hospital route off of Highway 82 and the hospital route off of I-75 at ABAC exit there, because those streets are just tearing people’s vehicles up. They’re rough. Just take your vehicle and ride down it and see how rought it is and you’ll understand what I’m saying. My mother-in-law was in the hospital with a heart attack a couple of weeks ago, and this is ridiculous. ”

Wondering why

“I agree with the caller in Tuesday’s paper’s Rant and Rave regarding the board of education. Why would you ask a successful high school principal who has saved and influenced so many young lives to resign? Also, if the athletics director is not attending all the sports activities they feel he should, talk with him. Don’t just take that away. Tift County High School has been so successful and other counties look up to us, so why does the new school board want to undermine all of this?”

Way to go

“Way to go, Evan Hanna and Blake Hightower. Your golf scores were awesome. Congratulations on your hard work. Your next-door and across the street neighbor.”
