Lady Devils clinch No. 1 in regular season finale

WARNER ROBINS — Tift County’s Lady Devils sealed up the Region 1-6A No. 1 seed, and a role as host of the upcoming playoffs.
The Lady Devils hounded Houston County Thursday, 60-14, to complete the regular season. Tift finishes 9-1 in Region 1-6A, the same record as Veterans, as the two split games during the year.

However, Tift is No. 1 as they had a larger margin of victory in the games. In Tifton, the Lady Devils won by 11 points (57-46), while Veterans won by nine (62-53) in Kathleen.
Veterans will be No. 2 for the tournament, set for Thursday and Friday at The Palace.
Two Lady Devils personally outscored Houston Thursday, Jalaya Miller at 18 points and Caitlyn Burgess with 17. Jimmya Cushion tossed in 12 points. Tift is now 21-4 for the year, winning 13 of their last 14 games.
The Blue Devils fell to 13-12 on the season, 3-7 in 1-6A with 79-38 loss to Houston. They will open region on the road with a play-in game at Thomas County Central.
