TIFTON — Tift County tennis is staying busy and also staying victorious, winning matches at home and on the road.

It was a 5-0 sweep for the Devils at Thomas County Central Tuesday, Feb. 20, all matches seeing them sweep sets. Elijah Hellman and the doubles combo of Seth Denham and Ross Peters did even better, not giving up a single match in their 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Maitrey Patel was nearly spotless at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1, as were Matthew Layfield and Tyson Lasseter in doubles, 6-1, 6-0.

Joshua Hellman earned a 6-3, 6-0 win in his match.

The Lady Devils won, 4-1 against the Lady Jackets, winning all three singles in straight sets.

Riley Griffin’s scores were 6-3, 6-2. Anna Lupo won her match, 6-3, 6-2, with Abby Lupo victorious, 6-2, 6-2.

Kenyaria Morrow and Madison Garner won in doubles, 6-4, 6-2. TCC’s only win was at No. 1 doubles, against Perrin Turner and Kate Carpenter, 6-4, 6-2.

Friday at Lee, the Lady Devils won 4-1, taking all three singles matches. Abby Lupo won her match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, but Anna Lupo and Griffin both came through after dropping their first set. Griffin’s final score was 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 and Anna Lupo’s was 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Morrow and Garner won at No. 2 singles, 5-7, 6-6, (7-3), 6-4, also making a big comeback win. Carpenter and Turner fell, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6.

The Devils had another 5-0 win in Leesburg, taking five matches in 10 sets. Elijah Hellman didn’t drop a match, 6-0, 6-0, nor did Peters and Denham at No. 2 doubles (6-0, 6-0).

Layfield and Lasseter won 6-1, 6-0, while Joshua Hellman had scores of 6-3, 6-1 and Patel’s were 6-3, 6-4.

Thursday at home, the Blue Devils won four from Deerfield-Windsor.

Patel and Elijah Hellman won quick 6-0, 6-0 singles matches. Joshua Hellman played tough in a loss at No. 2 singles.

Two doubles wins came by forfeit as the Knights did not bring players.
