June Roberts Kendrick

Eleanor June Roberts Kendrick, 81, of Tifton, died on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Eidson officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. 

Mrs. Kendrick’s grandsons, Eric Rowden, Brett Rowden, Kurt Rodgers, Ryan Hood, Bryson Hood, Luke Kendrick, Alec Kendrick and Eli Kendrick, and her great-nephew, Chad Purvis, will serve as pallbearers.

Born on Jan. 29, 1931, in Ocilla to the late Clarence Gilbert Roberts and Naomi Leah Hancock Roberts, Mrs. Kendrick was a homemaker and was known for her “Irish Stew” which was served daily at Kendrick’s Recreation Center.  She was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church/Victory Baptist Church in Tifton.  She was an avid bowler and especially loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sporting events and extracurricular activities.  She also enjoyed reading, traveling and following the Atlanta Braves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Kendrick.

Survivors include her children, Debra Kendrick Rodgers (Sherrod) of Tifton, Donna Kendrick Rowden (Dale) of Farmington, Carol Kendrick Hood of Tifton, Robie Kendrick (Jennifer) of Hahira, and Jamie Kendrick (Deidre) of McDonough; her grandchildren, Eric Rowden, Brett Rowden, Kurt Rodgers, Kade Rodgers, Macie Hood, Ryan Hood, Bryson Hood, Julianne Kendrick, Luke Kendrick, Emily Kendrick, Alec Kendrick and Eli Kendrick; two great-grandchildren, Mason Rowden and Lucas Rodgers; a sister-in-law, Irene Kendrick Watson of Tifton; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Kendrick’s caregivers, Freida, Teresa and Kim, at Loving Arms for the exceptional care which they gave to their mother.
