RAY CITY — Hattie Hand, 82, of Ray City, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Ray City.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Junior Swain will officiate. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.
Born April 22, 1919, in Berrien County, Hand was the daughter of Thomas Richardson and Rachel Fender, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Vashti Gurganiuos, Della Eatmon, Mavis Hughes, Addie McKinnon and Aline Howell; and two brothers, Marcus Richardson and Terrell Richardson.
Hand was a homemaker and attended Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, J. C. Hand of Ray City; one daughter, Betty Gulley of Ray City; two sons, Wayne Hand of Ray City and Jimmy Hand of Adel; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Frances Bentley
BROOKFIELD — Mary Frances Smith Bentley, 58, of Brookfield, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The Rev. Thomas Ellis and the Rev. Mark Fogarty will officiate. Burial will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Dale Gay, Dennis Gay, Danny Gay, Ray Foxworth, Stan McKellarand Jessie Batista.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel.
Born April 23, 1943, in Tifton, Bentley was the daughter of Frances Sue Hale Lindsey of Brookfield and the late John Hansel Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Buford Bentley.
A lifetime resident of Tift County, Bentley was a homemaker, after retiring as a convenience store manager, and a member of United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Sue Bentley of Chula; three sisters, Catherine Stevens of Omega, Margie Jaworski of Tifton and Carol Rodriguez of Brookfield; two grandchildren, Lynn Gibs and Chris Broxson, both of Chula; four great-grandchildren, Steven, Jose, Juan and Nikki Gibbs, all of Chula; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris Elizabeth Farmer
LOUISVILLE — Doris Elizabeth Adams Farmer, 88, of Louisville, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at the Heather House in Louisville.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Louisville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the Johnson-Grier Funeral Home in Louisville. The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Clara Irwin, 5919 Highway 24 in Louisville.
A native of Tift County, Farmer was the daughter of Joe Adams and Kate McRae Adams, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, R. L. “Bus” Farmer.
A resident of Millan most of her life, Farmer was a former secretary and clerk for the Jefferson County Sheriff Department and a bookkeeper for Louisville Financial Service and was a member of the Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in Louisville.
She is survived by one daughter, Doris Farmer Irwin of Roswell; and two sisters, Evelyn Barkley and Hilda Joe Cartwright, both of Tifton.
Johnson-Grier Funeral Home in Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline McDonald
ALMA — Pauline McDonald, 75, of Alma, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at her residence of an apparent heart attack.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home. The Rev. Travis McDonald and the Rev. Pet Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Robinson, Mark Robinson, Cliff Tippins, Dr. Donald Gillis, Norman Fletcher and DeWayne.
All those in attendance will be considered honorary escort.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
A native of Tift County, McDonald was the daughter o
f Walter Sumner and Minnie Cravey Sumner, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Abe Sumner and Hurbert Sumner; and two sisters, Otha Pearman and Mayoma Pearman.
McDonald was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edker H. McDonald of Alma; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Valerie McDonald of Alma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Cecil Orvin of Alma and Diane and Lamar Robinson of Ashburn; one sister, Edna Ford of Macon; five grandchildren, Kansas Tippins of Rochelle, Matthew Robinson of Oxford, Mark Robinson of Ashburn, Marty Orvin of Statesboro and Misty Boatright of Alma; four great-grandchildren, Erica and Haley Tippins, both of Rochelle, Austin Boatright of Alma and Jared Orvin of Statesboro; and a special friend, Henry Bizzell of Alma.
