Kathleen M. Gaskins



Kathleen Moore Gaskins, 88, of Willacoochee, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beulah United Methodist Church in Willacoochee. Sister Bessie Lewis, the Rev. Charles Rooks, the Rev. David Barton and the Rev. Ronnie Register officiated. Burial followed at Willacoochee Cemetery in Willacoochee.

Born March 24, 1913, in Willacoochee, Mrs. Gaskins was the daughter of Margaret Fletcher Moore and Dr. Henry Moore, DDS, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burnell Gaskins; two brothers, Hoover and Wilbur Moore; three sisters, Ena and Lillian Moore and Mildred M. Paulk; and one son-in-law, Darrell Tucker.

A resident of Atkinson County all of her life and a graduate of Willacoochee High School, Gaskins was a homemaker and a member of Beulah United Methodist Church, where she served as a former Sunday School teacher, honorary administrative board member and president of WSCS. She and her daughter Sue co-authored the complete history of Beulah United Methodist Church in Willacoochee.

Gaskins is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Fred Paulk, Katherine and Karl McCranie and Margaret and Ray Shealey, all of Willacoochee; seven grandchildren, Mike and Patricia Tucker of Willacoochee, Kathryn T. and Tommy Farabow of Broxton, Mark and Angie Tucker of Willacoochee, Carmen T. and Scott Day of Ambrose, Dr. Wesley Shealey of Shreveport, La., Roxanne S. and Bucky Tyler of Ocilla and Don and Michele Paulk of Willacoochee; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ouida M. Gibbs of Willacoochee and Daughtrey M. Paulk of Claxton; and several nieces and nephews.

Paulk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sallie Blackman Mallory, 67, of Tifton, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Beulah Hill Baptist Church, with burial at St. Paul Cemetery in Brighton. Mrs. Mallory is survived by seven sons, Andrew Mallory, Willie Mallory, Anthony Mallory, Howard Mallory, Sammie Oliver, Victor Boyd and Brian Blackman, all of Tifton; four daughters, Jeniffer Mallory, Cadara Mallory, Chissa Blackman and Ebony Blackman, all of Tifton; an adopted daughter, Ester Harris of Tifton; four brothers, Frank Wright, Billy Wright, Fred Wright and Jerry Wright; and five sisters, Leola Latimer, Essie Bell Prince, Janie Ruth McCarroll, Jeannette Thompson and Frances Williams. Southview Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Holt Nibbs Mathews, 43, of Tifton, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Mathews is survived by her husband, the Rev. Clarence J. Mathews; one son, Lee Mathews of Tifton; one daughter, Latosha Mathews; two stepdaughters, Keywa Mathews and Pam Mathews; three brothers, Oscar Holt, Stephen Holt and Aubrey Holt; and three sisters, Delores Holt Orr, Maxine Holt and Valorie Holt Hamilton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the Belle J. Mathis Chapel of Southview Mortuary.

Rosita Phelps, 84, of Adel, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Adel. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Adel. Mrs. Phelps is survived by her husband, Joseph Phelps of Adel; three sons, Leo Tuttle of Fonda, N.Y., Ronald Tuttle of Los Angeles and Paul Phelps of Chesapeake, Va.; and one daughter, Betty Jean Zemberi of Lenox. Purvis Funeral Home in Adel is in charge of arrangements.
