Wayne Arrington
TIFTON — Major Wayne Arrington, 64, of Tifton, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Chapel Bowen-Donaldson. The Rev. Brantley Seymour and the Rev. Mark Squires will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. R. Rowe, Gene Taylor, John McGill, David Tawzer, Jeff Roach, Herman Autry, Bruce Copeland, Earl Copeland, Thomas Garren, Tommy Stone and Tommy Day.
Born June 27, 1937, in Cook County, Mr. Arrington was the son of Silas S. Arrington and Mamie Carr Arrington, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hulon Arrington and Julian Arrington.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Arrington was employed with Shaw Industries in Tifton and was a member of the Holiness Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Reeves Arrington of Tifton; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Russell and Betty Arrington of Glenville, James and Katie Arrington of Tifton and Betty Arrington; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Everett Jones of Moultrie, Eloise and Clarence Smith of Tifton and Mildred and John Davis of West Berrien Community.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Maxine C. Madden
LAKELAND, Fla. — Maxine C. Madden, 96, of Lakeland, Fla., died of respiratory failure Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 16, 1905, in Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Madden moved to Lakeland in 1978 from Whitesboro, N.Y. Afer graduation from William Penn College in Iowa in 1927 and post-graduate industrial relations studies at Bryn Maw College in Pennsylvania, she became personnel manager at Skenandoa Rayon Coporation in Utica, N.Y., until her marriage to Leo J. Madden who she had hired. She was a charter member of Victory Church in Lakeland.
Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and her son, Col. Charles D. Madden.
She is survived by one son, Robert L. Madden of Lakeland; one daughter, Helen M. Flannery of Auburn, Mass; 10 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. One of her grandsons is Dr. Christopher Madden, who resides in Tifton with his wife and four children.
A memorial service was held last week in Lakeland, Fla.
A burial services was held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro, N.Y.
Gene Roysden
TIFTON – Dester Eugene “Gene” Roysden, 74, of Tifton, died Friday, April 26, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Daniel Roysden, the Rev. Willie Beasley and the Rev. Jay Roberson officiated. Burial followed at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were Norman Glaze, Frank McGill, early service ushers from First United Methodist Church and members of Beacon and Loyalty Sunday School classes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parsonage Fund or the Altar Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church, 107 W. 12th St., Tifton, Ga., 31794.
Born Dec. 27, 1927 in Jamestown, Tenn., Mr. Roysden was the son of Dan and Pearl Alley Roysden, both deceased. He was also precededin death by one daughter, Barbara Kent.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Roysden was a retired technician with the U.S.D.A. and a member of the American Legion Post #21. He was also a member of the Beacon and Loyalty Sunday School Classes of First United Methodist Church, where he was also a church member.
He had lived in Tifton since 1963 when he moved from Sharon, Penn.
Roysden is survived by his wife, Alice Roysden of Tifton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Cindy Roysden of Watkinsville and Dean Roysden of Tifton; two daughters and three son-in-laws, Beverly and Ralph Brown of McRae, Betty and George Burger of Peachtree City and Benny Kent of Hahira; three brothers, Dalbys Roysden of Muncie, Ind., Herbert Roysden of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Norman Roysden of Marion, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Billy H. Davis, 62, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, April 26, 2002, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. Survivors inlcude one daughter, Rhonda Diakogiannis of Fitzgerald; and one sister, Joan Goetzman of Arabi. Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald is in charge of arrangements.
Charles Kemp Jr., 83, of Camilla, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Camilla, burial at Oakview Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Bobbie Ann Kemp Allen of Clyo; two sons, Alex Kemp of Tifton and Harry Kemp of Camilla. Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla is in charge of arrangements.
