Regina Hines
TIFTON — Jackie Regina Hines, 35, of Tifton, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors’ Tiftarea Chapel. The Rev. Olin Hamlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Scott, Chad Faucett, Melvin Hines III, John Henderson III, Daniel Bailey, Eric Hall and Joe Pitts.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Tift Regional Medical Center ICU and Respiratory Therapy, Carl Goodwin, Fred Barnes, Tommy Johnson, Dr. Randall Lanier, Dr. F. Morris Davis, Terry Harwood and Dr. Kathrine Gibbons.
Born Nov. 19, 1968, in Tifton, Ms. Hines was the daughter of M.O. “Gopher” Hines and Opal Hines, both of Tifton. A lifetime resident of Tifton, she was a former employee at Winn-Dixie, Captain D’s and Chicago’s Pizza. She was a member of the Tift County High School Class of 1986 and attended Abraham Baldwin College.
Ms. Hines was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church. She loved her cats, enjoyed needlecrafts and collected Coca-Cola memorabilia.
In addition to her parents, survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Susie Hines of Tifton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ramona and Donnie Ward and Renee and John Henderson, all of Tifton, and Renita and Jeffery Faucett of Quitman; and her nieces and nephews, Mandi Ward, John, Kalin and Colby Henderson, Chad Faucett, Melvie, T.J. and K.D. Hines. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mickey Wayne Hines.

Franklin Marcine Croft
TIFTON — Franklin Marcine Croft, 70, of Tifton, died Friday, August 6, 2004, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors’ Tiftarea Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Odum and the Rev. Danny Jones will officiate.
Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors’ Tiftarea Chapel.
James Simpson, Mack Simpson, Colin Croft, Gene Hancock, Ken Williams, and Charles Petty will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Riddle and the Bridgebuilders Sunday School Class at Second Baptist Church.
Born February 2, 1934, in Brooks County, Mr. Croft was the son of Lee Allen and Stella Thomas Croft, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one son, Marc Croft.
Mr. Croft was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather and a caring friend to all who knew him. He was a generous provider and a true man of God who lived his faith in his daily life.
He was retired from the U. S. Air Force and from Queen Carpet. He was a part-time employee of MSI for the last six years.
A member of Second Baptist Church of Tifton, Mr. Croft served faithfully as a deacon, trustee, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Simpson Croft, and by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ben Fowler, LeAnn and Steve Pritchett, and Elaine Auger, all of Tifton. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Rhett, Alisabeth, and Stephen Pritchett, and Claire and Sara Auger. Other survivors are three brothers, Lee Croft of Los Angeles, Calif., Vernon Croft and wife Rose of Meridian, Idaho, and Colin Croft and wife Pat of Warner Robins; two sisters, Alnis Neville, and husband Joe of Tallahassee, Fla., and Annette DeCicco of Miami,Fla.
Mr. Croft is also survived by his lifetime friends and brothers-in-law, Raymond Simpson, Mack Simpson and Kay of Barney, James Simpson and Patricia of Hahira, and his beloved sister-in-law, Linda Simpson Todd of Valdosta and nineteen nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.

Nita Jones Freeman
OCILLA — Nita Jones Freeman, 74, of Ocilla, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Ocilla Baptist Church, with Dr. Ray Allen and the Rev. Mitchell Luckie officiating. Eulogy will be given by Quinn Freeman. Burial will follow at Brushy Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Freeman was born May 15, 1930, in Ellaville, to the late Arthur L. and Ruby Milner Jones. She had lived in Ocilla since 1955. Mrs. Freeman received her nursing training from Abraham Baldwin College and Valdosta State College, where she also received her teaching certificate. She taught nursing at Ben Hill-Irwin Tech and was a former nurse at the Medical College of Georgia, Palemon Gaskin Nursing Home, Tift General Hospital and Irwin County Hospital. Mrs. Freeman was a member of Ocilla Baptist Church.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by one daughter, Jane Freeman (N. Allen) Phillips, Tifton; one son, Quinn (Linda) Freeman III, Kingston, Wash.; four grandchildren, Sara Lindsey Freeman, Megan Elizabeth Freeman, Kathryn Quinn Freeman and Keely Freeman Phillips; two brothers, Robin Jones of Greensboro, N.C., and Harold Jones of Preston; two sisters, Sandra Moore of Rock Hill, S.C., and Rhonda Luckie of Appomattox, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Quinn Freeman Jr.

Blanche Castagna Adams
ELBERTON — Blanche Ivey Castagna Adams, 46, of Elberton, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Concord United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mike Shearon officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Berry Funeral Home, Elberton.
A memorial service will be held in Tifton at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, with Dr. W. Ches Smith III and the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
Ms. Adams was born in Atlanta to Frank Castagna of Tifton and the late Esteen Whiddon Castagna. She was a graduate of Tift County High School and the Abraham Baldwin School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and worked for many years as a visiting nurse in Northeast Georgia. She was a Sunday school teacher and soloist/member of the Concord United Methodist Church choir and a member of the Elbert County Saddle Club.
In addition to her father, she is survived by two daughters, Candace and Carmen Adams, and a son, Craig Adams, all of Elberton; two sisters, Connie Ellis of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marie Penumadu of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Dr. Frank Gordon Castagna of Marietta; and an aunt, Virlin Whiddon Phillips of Tifton.

Peggy Jean Watson Walker
TIFTON — Peggy Jean Watson Walker, 58, of Tifton, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Joe Crumley will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Charles Mitchell, Carol Miller, Chris Sikes, Robert Averitt, Mike Tucker and Tommy Nash.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family may be contacted at the residence of Edd Walker, 414 Chesnutt Ave., Tifton.
Born Oct. 10, 1945, in Tift County, Mrs. Walker was the daughter of Mamie Dillard Watson and the late Roy Watson. One son and one daughter also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her husband, Glen Walker of Tifton; two brothers, Dale Watson of Ocilla and Donald Watson of Fitzgerald; five sisters, Ernestine Cosper of Tifton, Vicky Tucker of Pensacola, Fla., Sue Mitchell of Hartsville, S.C., and Shirley Averitt and Dwinnon Sikes, both of Alapaha; and a special niece, Haley Peters.
