Irvin Lindsey

TIFTON — Irvin Lindsey, 83, of Tifton, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Grace Manor Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder James Hortman and Elder Roger Summerlin will officiate. Burial will follow at Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward Blount, Johnny Blount, Melvin Blount, Jerry Bush, Charles Lindsey and Gene Webb.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born Feb. 18, 1920, in Tift County, Mr. Lindsey was the son of W.W. Lindsey and Jessie Mullis Lindsey, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Leona Barber Lindsey, who died in 2001.

He was retired from Tifton Aluminum and was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Turner County.

Mr. Lindsey is survived by three brothers, Ralph Lindsey of Vero Beach, Fla., Herbert Lindsey of Auburndale, Fla., and Jack LIndsey of York, Pa.; three sisters, Martha Jane Shannon and Katherine Webb, both of Tifton, and Edna Willis of Omega; and several nieces and nephews.

Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.



Warren Samuel Hancock

ASHBURN — Warren Samuel Hancock, 76, of Ashburn, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Perry Funeral Chapel in Ashburn, with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, Hospice of Tift Area or a favorite charity.

Mr. Hancock was born in Turner County and lived all of his life in Ashburn. He was the son of the late Samuel Y. and Maggie Pate Hancock. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the retired owner of the Warren Hancock CPA firm.

Mr. Hancock is survived by his wife, Betty McCard Hancock of Ashburn; his children, Bobby and Diane Hancock of Tifton and Robbie and George Copenhaver of Roswell; one grandson, Thomas Hancock of Tifton; one brother, Raymond C. Hancock of Fairfax, Va.; and one sister, Juanita W. Alberson of Sycamore.

Perry Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Luther Carl Barnes

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Luther Carl Barnes, 34, of Fort Smith, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in Fort Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Dan Robinson will officiate.

Born June 4, 1968, in Tift County, Mr. Barnes was the son of Ennis R. Barnes and Lucille Stogner Barnes, both of Tifton. He was a welder.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barnes is survived by one son, Joshua Thompson of Tifton; two daughters, Amanda Carol Minchew Barnes and Tiffany Thompson, both of Tifton; three brothers, Ricky Barnes of Arkansas, Harvey Barnes of Florida and Lynn Barnes of Tifton; and three sisters, Donna Franklin of Omega and Mary Nell Barnes and Chrystal Carasez, both of Tifton.
