Martin W. Allen
FITZGERALD — Martin W. Allen, 72, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Fennell, the Rev. Robert McDearmid and the Rev. Jerry Wilson will officiate. Burial will follow at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County.
His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Born June 16, 1930, in Wilcox County, Mr. Allen was the son of Henry Allen and Martha Tomberlin Allen, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sara Taylor.
Mr. Allen was a retired mechanic welder for Gillman Parts and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Eleanor Newell Allen; three daughters and sons-in-law, Martena and Tommy Cauthen of Dublin, Debra A. and Kenny Davis and Janie and Billy Pickard, all of Fitzgerald; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Louise Allen of Abbeville; his grandchildren, T. W. Cauthen III, Lindsey Cauthen, Martin Cauthen, Kendra Davis-Cring and Glen Cring, Kenny Ray and Crystal Davis, Allen Davis, Brant Pickard and Brittney Pickard; an aunt, Rebecca Tomberlin of Abbeville; and one brother-in-law, Edsel Taylor of Alma.
Southern Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Idelle “MeMa” Rhodes
MOULTRIE — Mary Idelle “MeMa” Rhodes, 91, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Browning Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harrell Faircloth Chapel. The Rev. James Sellers and the Rev. Marshall Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wendy Asbell, David Rhodes, Lee Henry, DeWayne Rhodes, Tony Rhodes and Mitchell Player.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. tonight at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.
Born July 29, 1911, in Decatur County, Mrs. Rhodes was the daughter of Abner Poston and Margaret Ellen Hunt Poston, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Arkles Rhodes; one daughter, Mary F. Rhodes; one brother, Johnny Poston; two sisters, Fannie Lou Johns and Beatrice Cooper; and three grandchildren, Thomas Rhodes, Douglas Rhodes and Little Derrill Rhodes.
Mrs. Rhodes was a homemaker and a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy M. and Emma Lou Rhodes of Marietta and H. Derrill and Bettie Rhodes of Moultrie; two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty R. Sledge of Moultrie and Alice R. and Leonard Henry Bergeron of Maringouin, La.; one sister, Abbie Enfinger of Loganville; 15 grandchildren, Tony Rhodes, Dewayne Rhodes, Cindy R. Ledbetter, Pamela R. Branch, Paula R. May, David Rhodes, Debra Dean, Diane Dean, Penny Dean, Deborah S. Blackburn, Tammy A. Pisciotta, Wendy C. Asbell, Bonnie D. Jedlick, Tonya D. Player and Margaret D. Darner; 30 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gary Perry Harris
TIFTON — Gary Perry Harris, 62, of Tifton, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Chapel Bowen-Donaldson. The Rev. Donnie Sloan will officiate. Burial will follow at Lenox Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Guess, Lamar Frazier, Dennis Carter, David Gibbs, Randall Courtoy and Michael Moore.
Born March 5, 1940, in Berrien County, Mr. Harris was the son of Shelton Harris and Carrie DeLoach Harris, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Harris.
Mr. Harris was retired from the Department of Transportation and was a member of the Holiness faith.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Beverly Harris of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Kitty and Ashley Harmon of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Robert Harris and Donald Harris, both of Enigma; one sister, Betty Jean Harris Turner of Enigma; and one granddaughter, Skylar Harmon.
