Mary Frances Bentley
BROOKFIELD — Mary Frances Smith Bentley, 58, of Brookfield, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The Rev. Thomas Ellis and the Rev. Mark Fogarty will officiate. Burial will follow at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her nephews: Dale Gay, Dennis Gay, Danny Gay, Ray Foxworth, Stan McKellarand Jesus Batista.
Born April 23, 1943, in Tifton, Bentley was the daughter of Hansel and Dinah Smith of Tifton, Frances Lindsey of Brookfield and the late Buddy Lindsey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Buford Bentley.
A lifetime resident of Tift County, Bentley was a homemaker, after retiring as a convenience store manager, and a member of United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Sue Bentley of Chula; three sisters, Catherine Stevens of Omega, Margie Jaworski of Tifton and Carol Rodriguez of Brookfield; two grandchildren, Lynn Gibbs and Chris Broxson, both of Chula; four great-grandchildren, Steven, Jose, Juan and Nikki Gibbs, all of Chula; and several nieces and nephews.
Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Jerome Barrs
IRWIN COUNTY — Jerome Barrs, 63, of Irwin County, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Old Valley Grove Cemetery in Irwin County.
Born July 8, 1938, in Irwin County, Barrs was the son of Lillian Lucille Bryant Barrs Boyd of Tifton and the late Albert Lewis Barrs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Roberts Barrs.
A resident of the community most of his life, Barrs was a 1955 graduate of Ocilla High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was a Merchant Marine.
Barrs was a forklift driver at Deep South in Fitzgerald.
Along with his mother, he is survived by one sister, Voncile B. Sirmans of Fitzgerald.
