Dorothy Mae Tapp Whittington
NORMAN PARK — Dorothy Mae Tapp Whittington, 70, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at her residence.
Services will be held 2 p.m. today at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tony Crawley will officiate. Burial will follow at the Omega Cemetery. Troy Tapp, Eddie Tapp, Kyle Kitchens, Cory Kitchens, Steve Connell, Junior Brooks and Van Ponder will serve as pallbearers.
Born Feb. 26, 1935, in Tift County, Mrs. Whittington was the daughter of Roy Trafford and Rillie Mae Goddard Tapp, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Whittington, a son, Marcus Bryant Webb, Jr., three brothers, Wallace, Matthew and Herman Tapp; and two grandchildren Sahne and Joshua Webb.
A homemaker, Whittington was a member of Crosland Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, James R. Webb and his wife Donna of Cairo; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen W. and Bobby Kitchens of Omega; her brothers, Roy L. Tapp of Cummings , Clemmon Tapp of Abbeville and Carl Tapp; a sister, Imogene Perkins and husband Marvin of Moultrie; a sister-in-law, Myrtice Tapp of Tifton; her grandchildren, Jessica Payne, Faith Connell, Kyle Kitchens, Cory Kitchens and Andrea Webb; and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Cameron Connell, Raylee and Karlee Kitchens, Shawn Everett and Brittany Payne.
Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home in Moultrie is in charge of arrangements.
James A. ‘Jim’ Vassey
IRWINVILLE — James A. ‘Jim’ Vassey, 55, of Irwinville, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Mexico.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Irwinville Methodist Church. The Rev. Raymond Smith and the Rev. Henry Martin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mystic Cemetery.
Born Oct. 7, 1949, in Stewart County, Vassey was the son of James Claude and Verna Mae Carroll Vassey. He was raised in Mystic and was a 1968 graduate of Irwin County High School. Vassey was the owner and operator of Vassey Energy Systems, Inc. He was a member of Irwinville United Methodist Church.
Vassey is survived by his son, James Dustin “Dusty” Vassey of Irwinville; a daughter, Dena Paige Vassey of New Orleans, La.; a sister, Peggy Chavez of Fort Worth, Texas; a niece, Jennifer Martin Garcie, and a nephew, Matthew Martin.

Bobby B. Lindsey
TIFTON — Bobby B. Lindsey, 75, of Tifton, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Dr. Ches Smith, III, the Rev. Paul Thomas and Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate. Burial will follow in Leila Cemetery in Colquitt County. James Walker, Chris Goodman, Howard Dorsett, Scott Lindsey, Dr. Ray Evans, Wayne Purvis and Darrell Sumner will serve as pallbearers.
Camellia Garden Club of Tifton, Robert Register, Floyd Pennington, Buddy Gaskins, Rheudean Denby, Tom Skinner, Carl Duncan, Lennon Copeland, Ed Walker, Johnny Lindsey, Warren Robinson, Rick Brown, Robert Ponder, Donnie Hasty, Bill Conely and Bob Lindsey will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born Oct. 13, 1929, in Cook County, Lindsey was the son of Shelton G. Lindsey and Nancy Baker Lindsey, both deceased. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
The retired president of the Dixie Oil Company, Lindsey was a member of the Georgia Oilman Association. He was named “Oilman of the Year” in 1987. He served on the Board of Directors for Citizens Bank of Tifton for 30 years, was a member of the Board of American Bank Holding Company in Moultrie, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tifton Airport Authority, a member of the Board of Directors for the ABAC Foundation and was the current Director of the Bank of Lenox in Lenox.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Edith Rutland Lindsey of Tifton; his sons, Bobby Joe Lindsey of Macon; John Allen Lindsey and wife Tina of Tifton; his daughters, Lisa Lindsey Kent and husband Al of Tifton; a brother, John D. Lindsey; his sisters, Martha Mathis of Tifton; and Lillian Purvis of Tifton.

Johnnie T. Davis
LENOX — Johnnie T. Davis, 83, of Lenox, died Saturday, March 12, 2005.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church. Burial will follow in the Lenox City Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home in Adel.
Born on Jan. 8, 1922, in Berrien County, Davis was the son of Lula Annis Davis and Marion Lonzo Davis, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his wife Louella Wiley who died after 45 years of marriage and a brother, Glen Davis.
A veteran of both World War II and the Vietnam conflict, Davis was a 21-year member of the Air Force. Before joining the Air Force, he had also served several years in the Army Air Corps.
A 43-year resident of Lenox, Davis operated a furniture repair store and was a faithful member of the Lenox Christian Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Franks Davis of Lenox; a son, Douglas W. Davis and wife Annette of Panacea, Fla.; a daughter, Virginia Bennette and her husband Richard of Rio Rancho, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Tommy Davis of Clearwater, Fla.; Wendell Davis of Mobile, Ala.; Sean Davis of Valdosta; Kimberely Sanchez of Raton, N.M.; Alicia Bennett of Mount Sinai, N.Y.; Richard Bennett, Jr., of Albuquerque, N.M.; and James M. Bennett of Rio Rancho; Seven Great-grandchildren, Kelly and Rachel Davis of Springhill, Fla.; Christina, Dale, and Alex Davis of Mobile; Benjamin and Ella Sanchez of Raton.
