Monroe Fletcher
FITZGERALD – Monroe Fletcher, 63, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. The Rev. Gerald Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home.
Born Nov. 16, 1939, in Tift County, Mr. Fletcher was the son of Marcus W. “Dock” Fletcher and Inez Branch Fletcher, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jodi Fletcher Zunzunegui.
Mr. Fletcher had lived in the community most of his life and was retired after 37 years as a loan examiner for the state of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of First Baptist Church and Fitzgerald Country Club. He was a 1958 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Georgia Teachers’ College in Statesboro.
Mr. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Alice Brown Fletcher of Fitzgerald; one son, Marcus Fletcher of Sylvester; one stepson, Dwain Parrish of Fitzgerald; two sisters, Patricia F. Myers Loeffelholz of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joy F. Walker of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren, Mollie Fletcher and Jack Fletcher, both of Sylvester, and Laci Steedley of Homerville; and two step-grandchildren, Kade Parrish and Emily Parrish, both of Fitzgerald.
Paulk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Lanelle Angeline Miller
WAYCROSS – Lanelle Angeline Miller of Waycross died Monday morning at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born in Chula, Mrs. Miller was the daughter of Elijah Jordan and Estelle Clements Jordan, both deceased. She had lived in Waycross since 1970.
She was a graduate of Tift County High School and retired from Southern Bell in 1983 after 36 years of service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cordele, a member of the Waycross Women’s Club, the Telephone Pioneers, Fun Time Band and was very active with the local Cancer Society.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Jim Miller of Waycross; a daughter, Tamza Raines Brumley, and her husband, Larry, of Atlanta; a son, Russell Raines Jr., and his wife, Catherine, of Huntingtown, Md.; a stepdaughter, Paris Miller Thomas, and her husband, Ben, of Leesburg; grandchildren, David Anderson Brumley of Atlanta, Trey Raines and Beth Raines of Huntingtown, Md.; a step-grandson, Benjamin James Dakota Thomas of Leesburg; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
