Greg Pafford
ADEL – Greg Pafford, 47, of Adel, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, in Clinch County.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Life Baptist Church. The Rev. Harris Whitman, the Rev. Stanley Hendricks and the Rev. Ken Potts will officiate. Burial will follow at Vickers Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.
Born June 24, 1956, in Berrien County, Mr. Pafford was the son of Carl Pafford and Beverly Turner Pafford of West Berrien. He was a welder and mechanic and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt. He was a member of New Life Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pafford is survived by his wife, Patricia Camille Padgett Pafford of Adel; two daughters, Beverly Marie Pafford and Jessica Carlene Pafford, both of Adel; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Turner of Sparks; four nieces, Carla (Jeff), Candace, Linley and Amanda; a great-nephew, Gavin; great-nieces, Katie, Karmen, Madison and Callie Ann; two brothers-in-law, Roy (Deena) Padgett and Robert Padgett; a sister-in-law, Josephine Padgett; his mother-in-law, Mary Padgett of Lake Park; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, P.J. Turner; his paternal grandparents, Marion and Martha Pafford; and his father-in-law, Roy Padgett Jr.

Emily Inez Venable
VALDOSTA – Emily Inez Bridges Venable, 89, of Valdosta, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elks Aidmore Children’s Center in Conyers, the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes in Hahira, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home in Atlanta and Dasher Memorial Heart Center at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Mrs. Venable’s residence in Valdosta.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Venable moved to Valdosta three years ago to be with her family. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Venable is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Roy Spiker of Adel; granddaughters and their husbands, Kim and Gerry Stracener of Valdosta and Kay and Fred Smith of Hahira; great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Stracener and Robyn, Allison and Dylan Smith.

James Maxwell Moye
TY TY – James Maxwell Moye, 75, of Ty Ty, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Center in Albany.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Pastor Bruce Trigg and Pastor Frank Bredenkamp will officiate. Burial will follow at Hickory Springs Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Dupree, Scott Dupree, Michael Baker, Ron Pitts, Roy Sumner and Frank Polk.
Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Sledge, Charles Sledge, Donald Benson, Buddy Walters and Gordon Philbrick.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to Hospice of Tift Area or Tifton Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Born Oct. 1, 1928, in Worth County, Mr. Moye was the son of Gilbert DeVane Moye and Maybelle Sumner Moye, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three sisters.
A U.S. veteran, he had lived in Tift County all of his life and was a retired farmer and a member of Tifton Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Moye is survived by his wife, Florine June Daniel Moye of Ty Ty; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley James Moye and wife, Geri, of Albany, and Dennis Walter Moye of Atlanta; four sisters, Grace Moye of Bull Shoals, Ark., Merle Roberts of Birmingham, Ala., Clarice Polk of Black Mountain, N.C., and Bobbie Jean Baker of Loganville; and three grandchildren, Jessica Anne Moye, James Maxwell Moye and Anna Roberta Moye, all of Albany.

Alberta P. Burgess
TIFTON – Alberta Parker Burgess, 84, of Tifton, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. John Cone and the Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 28, 1919, in Worth County, Mrs. Burgess was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Parker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Emmett Burgess, and by three brothers and three sisters.
She was a homemaker and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by five sons, Jimmy D. Burgess and wife, Nell, Gordon Burgess and wife, Betty Jo, Hilton Burgess and wife, Betty Sue, and John F. Burgess and wife, Nita, all of Tifton, and Grady E. Burgess and wife, Sylvia, of Columbus; three daughters, Latrelle Cone and husband, John, of Tifton, Lucile Pate Mathews and husband, Ray, of Enigma, and Sherry Burgess Worth and husband, Rob, of Apopka, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

James William Peters Sr.
TIFTON – James William Peters Sr., 75, of Tifton, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Ronnie C. Luke and the Rev. William Barksdale officiated. Burial followed at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Benny Goddard, William Brooks, Donnie Pearson, Kenneth Pearson, Ronnie Suggs and Darrell Culberson.
Firefighters from the Tifton Fire Department served as honorary pallbearers.
Born Aug. 3, 1928, in Sycamore, Mr. Peters was the son of James Andrew Peters and Mary Rosie Hogan Peters, both deceased.
Mr. Peters was stationed in Germany for two years during the Korean War. He was a fireman for 10 years at the Tifton Fire Department and was a retired truck driver. He served as a national delegate of Woodmen of the World Lodge #144 for four years and received plaques for Mr. Woodman, Earned Faithful Service in the Forest Woodcraft to fellow members. He also received the Fraternal Spirit Award for Outstanding Service to his Lodge of 144 fellow members.
A longtime resident of Tifton, Mr. Peters was a member of Carpenter Road Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Valera Wetherington Peters of Tifton; one son, James William Peters Jr. and his wife, Shirley Hester Peters, of Omega; two daughters, Janice Dale Peters Tyson and her husband, Bill Tyson, and Glenda Sharon Peters Ferrell and her fiance, Ron Seper, all of Tifton; one brother, Charles Edward Peters of Nashville; his grandchildren, Jamie Mathis, Kelly Mathis Royal, Nicholas and Sharon Loper, Jeremy Peters and Kayla Peters Douglas; and several nieces and nephews.

She had lived in Tifton for six years and was a homemaker and a member of Our Divine Saviour Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Anselmo Rivera of Tifton; two sons, Anselmo Rivera Jr. and Kevin R. Rivera, both of Tifton; four brothers, Francisco Mejia, Raul Mejia, Arturo Mejia and Carlos Mejia, all of Tifton; and one sister, Lourdes Mejia of Tifton.

TIFTON – Pauline Powell Roberts, 71, of Tifton, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Southern Care Personal Care Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Lillard, the Rev. Jay Roberson, the Rev. Christopher Ramsey and the Rev. James Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at Lenox City Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Roberts, Alan Roberts, Anthony Roberts, Jason Roberts, Bharat Patel, Philip Jones and Gerald White Jr.

Born Jan. 12, 1932, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of James Leffie and Myrtle Paramoure Powell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Roberts; one brother, Acey Powell, and one sister, Josie Goode.
She was a homemaker, a helpmate in Christian ministry, a retired sewing factory worker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, the Rev. Curtis C. Roberts of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Don Wayne and Wanda Roberts and Dr. Marcus C. and Marjie Roberts, all of Tifton, and Randy C. and Laura Roberts of Anderson, S.C.; one brother and sister-in-law, James “Buck” and Margie Powell of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Gerald White of Franklin, N.C.; grandchildren, Bryan Roberts, Anthony Roberts, Diana R. and Bharat Patel, Kelly R. and Philip Jones, Alan Roberts and Jason Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.
