Slim&none

“The Atlanta Braves’ chances of going to the World Series are slim to none.”

Remember them

“These people talking about their kids enjoyed the fireworks at the Agrirama the other night, I wonder if any of them ever thought about the men and women who fought, bled and died through the years so they could have the freedom to go enjoy stuff such as this.”

Bad roads

“I have a Rant. I just traveled I-75 north and then came back to Tifton. The I-75 in Tift County is awful. It’s worse than Kentucky, and that is very bad. Something needs to be done.”

Enjoy the right

“Well, here we go again. Seems we have someone who wants the Rant and Rave column taken out of the paper completely so we can live like a bunch of communists. My forefathers gave me the right to express my opinion. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. It’s as simple as that.”

Summer freeze

“I’ve got a neighbor who puts his corn in a silo right next to a shed where the cows use to get out from the sun. Yesterday, it was so hot that corn started popping and falling down on those cows. They thought it was snowing and froze slap to death.”

Rants on Sunday

“Concerning the Rant and Rave in our paper, I wish that the Tifton Gazette would put it in our Sunday paper. We’d appreciate it.”

Good Samaritans

“This is a Rave. This is dealing with an accident that happened on Saturday on 319. To the lady in the black van, I’m not sure if you live here or were just passing by, I want to thank you for taking time to stay with my son until help came. Those others who called 911, thank you also. Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. It goes to show that there are people out there who care.”

Bad decision

“Now let me get this straight. The county’s going to provide animal control, five days a week, during business hours, with a director that lives in another county. The humane society did it with more employees, longer hours and a director that was always available, and for this the county is going to pay $100,000 a year more than the humane society got paid for it. And no wonder the county’s in such a money mess.”

Horrible act

“It’s a shame the way the grave diggers are breaking all of those headstones and head markers out in the Greenwood Cemetery, running over the old graves, trying to make a dollar with a new grave. I think this needs to be checked and the gravediggers should have more respect for the living and the dead.”
