Charles E. Brown

TIFTON — Charles E. Brown, 73, of Tifton, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Bruce Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers with Glynn Moorman, Van Dow and Kenny Hawkins serving as honorary pallbearers.

Born July 3, 1933, in Tift County to the late William P. Brown Sr. and Nora Martin Brown, he was also preceded in death in 1997 by his wife, Betty Crumpton Brown, to whom he was married for 44 years.

Mr. Brown had lived all of his life in Tift County. As a young man, he worked at the Tifton Gazette and was a radio announcer for WWGS. Later, he was a tile contractor and owned and operated Brown Tile Co. in Tifton. He enjoyed music and was a longtime musician, playing and singing with several local quartets. He was an awesome husband, father and grandfather and a mentor to many and a friend to all.

Mr. Brown is survived by one son and one daughter-in-law, Tommy and Michelle Brown of Biloxi, Miss.; three daughters and four sons-in-law, Melody and Tim McMillan of Braselton, Kim and Perry Key of Tifton, Lori and Shannon Ewing of Bold Springs and Gary Vowell of Tifton; one sister, Mickey Goodwin of Tifton; two brothers, W.P. “Squire” Brown Jr. of Tifton and James G. Brown of Miami, Fla.; his grandchildren, Christy and Chad Drinkard, Jason McMillan, Chip Vowell, Ryan Vowell, Austin Vowell, Kaylee Ewing, Bailey Ewing, Cody Brown and Nikki Brown; and one great-grandchild, Lexi Leigh Drinkard.

Judy Barnes Kilpatrick

CHULA — Judy Barnes Kilpatrick, 54, of Chula, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The Rev. Randall Gay will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Dewayne Harris, Crayton Barnes, Tony Bruner, Skeet Adams, Andy Bruner and Randy Johnson will serve as pallbearers. Devin Blanton, Eston Burkhalter, Jimmy Stewart and Donald “Speedy” Pope will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Kilpatrick was born on Dec. 16, 1951, in Tift County. She was the daughter of Talmadge Barnes and Corene Suggs Barnes, both deceased.

She was of the Baptist faith. She was disabled and a former employee of Prestolite Wire Corporation.

Survivors include her husband, Rex Kilpatrick of Chula; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Larry and Charity Barnes of Chula, Talmadge Lee and Rose Adams of Chula and Homer Dewitt Adams Jr. of Avon Park, Fla.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine Malisa and Tony Bruner of Sparks and Kemberly Louise Rodriguez of Sparks; four brothers, Laferrell Barnes of Germany, Phillip Allen Barnes of Waycross, Noel Matthew Barnes of Douglas and Randy McLeod of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; four sisters, Ida Burkhalter of Lakeland, Mary Frances Miller of Waycross, Joann Ray of Hoboken and Patsy Bond of Waycross; 12 grandchildren, James Larry Barnes Jr., Stephen Bruner, Amber Bruner, Samantha Bruner, Talmadge Jaye Adams, Austin Lee Adams, Nicholas Hand, Maranda Ulloa, Bernardo Rodriguez, Dakota Rodriguez, Courtney Adams and Jordan Adams; two stepgrandchildren, Frances Danielle Phillips and Jessica Ann Phillips; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Evelyn L. P. Dixon

TIFTON — Evelyn Lucille Peters Dixon, 78, of Tifton, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. T. Manuel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Tifton First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.

Ray Dean, Richard Dean, Ivey Peters, Jonathan Long, Marvin Brooks, Don Jordan, Gary Abell and Larry Dotson will serve as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Tifton to the late I.D. Peters and Mollie Miley Peters, Mrs. Dixon was also preceded in death by her husband, Alven Jackson “A.J.” Dixon Sr.

Mrs. Dixon was a lifetime resident of Tifton and was an inspector with the Tifton Coca-Cola Bottling Company. She was the last surviving charter member of the Tifton First Church of the Nazarene where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and very active in church work. She loved her family.

Mrs. Dixon is survived by one son and one daughter-in-law, Alven and Joyce Dixon of Evans; one daughter and one son-in-law, Kristie and Bruce Shiver of Tifton; one brother and one sister-in-law, J.D. “Buddy” and Shirley Peters of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Dean of Tifton; her grandchildren, Tosca Dixon, Tammy and Jonathan Long and Leah Shiver; her great-grandchildren, Stephen, Daniel and Nathan Long; and several nieces and nephews.
