Robert Earl Griffin
NASHVILLE — Robert Earl Griffin, 67, of Nashville, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Mitchell and the Rev. Johnny Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Nashville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Lovein Funeral Home.
Mr. Griffin was born on March 8, 1939, in Berrien County. He was the son of Wilmer Griffin and Frances Garner Griffin, both deceased. He was a farmer and retired from Sears. He was a member of Ray City United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Katie Luke Griffin of Nashville; two daughters, Renee (Michael) Rowland of Rincon and Deree (Rodney) Nix of Nashville; a brother, Jerry Griffin of Nashville; and a special granddaughter, Emilie Rowland of Rincon.
Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carolyn Medlin Cox
MONTEZUMA — Carolyn Medlin Cox, 73, of Montezuma, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Montezuma. Interment will follow at Bertha Dozier Memorial Park Cemetery in Montezuma.
Mrs. Cox was born on Nov. 11, 1933 in Cordele to the late Ernest P. Medlin and Louise Wolfe Medlin. She was former owner of the Citizen and Georgian Newspaper in Montezuma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Montezuma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian C. Cox, and a daughter, Julie Ann Cox.
Survivors include her son, Robert Burton Cox of Montezuma; a granddaughter, Victoria Grace King of Montezuma; a sister, Barbara M. (Herby) Strickland of Rebecca; five brothers, Jimmy Medlin of Warner Robins, Larry E. (Dorene) Medlin of Albany, Johnny B. (Dee) Medlin of Charleston, S.C., Joel L. (Sandye) Medlin of Montezuma and David D. Medlin of Ellaville.
In memory of Mrs. Cox, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Montezuma, P.O. Box 357, Montezuma, GA 31063.
