I’ll get off

“Gee, I’m broke, let me go rob a bank. Bush will let me off— he lets illegal immigrants off for breaking the law because they’re trying to improve their lot. I just robbed a bank to improve my way of life, too…”

Use your ashtray

“I work at a day care with the playground on 20th Street. Every day I have to clean up cigarette butts that people throw out of their car windows. PLEASE use your ashtrays; not only is it unsanitary for the children, it is so dry with no rain, you can cause a fire.”

New name?

“God bless Jimmy Carter for telling it like it is. I think we should rename the state Carterland for the best southern president ever!”

Swimming hole

“For crying out loud!!!! Will some one PLEASE fix that dang pot hole on Rebel Road!!!!! It’s really big!!!!”

Pets too

“I just heard that Thomasville is getting a dog park. When is Tifton going to become pet friendly? Tifton has nothing for people to do with their pets. Other cities nearby have several pet stores, many boarding kennels, many vets, doggie day cares and the list goes on. Tifton, our pets need places to go, too.”

Above and beyond

“This is a rave to the guys at NAPA Auto Parts on 82. They went above and beyond helping me with a battery for my car! I appreciate it!”

Call Miss Cleo

“The Senate is being asked to vote on an immigration bill that hasn’t even been printed yet. That’s not speed reading, but psychic reading.”

You knew

“To all that are complaining about Tifton not having all the big chain stores that you want, you knew what Tifton had to offer when you came here.”

Great year

“I just wanted to add on to the rave for Mrs. Joan Cobb. Mrs. Joan and the staff at Horizon Academy always go above and beyond when helping children and their families. Thank you all for a great school year!!”

Friendly and helpful

“This is a rave for Tony Fountain, the secretary who works in the children’s building at Tifton Mental Health. Thank you for always being so friendly and helpful!”

Please adopt

“In response to ‘Adopt animals’: I agree and I hope the situation at the shelter opened up the public’s eyes and put the push on Tift County shelter employees to encourage adoption through public awareness and other programs such as spay and neuter programs. …And remember the shelter employees can’t do this alone; so please adopt and volunteer. I want to give Vicky at the shelter a BIG thank you for all of her hard work and dedication…”

Remember us

“Reply to ‘Old story’: Don’t forget Casseta Road that has been on the books for 30+ years.”
