Congratulations, Tracy

“This is a Rave for Tracy. Congratulations, Tracy, on obtaining your CPA license. A job well done. We’re so proud of you. Your family.”

Too hot for kids

“Concerning the air conditioning being out in the high school, I feel sorry for them. And about the buses, I think air conditioning would be one of the primary concerns for our school system. I don’t care who you are or what you are. I drive a school bus. It’s too hot for a packed school bus, I don’t care who you are…”

Forget that

“I was just mentioning the stores that carry porn also. I walked in one the other day to get a drink. They had a large sign up that said ‘More porn DVDs in the back, just ask,’ right at the register! I put my drink down and left. I will not be going back to that store! I nor my children should have to see that.”

One problem

“This is to ‘Try a tint.’ How is tint on the windows going to help if the windows are down?…”

Safety first

“To ‘Heartbroken’: While I hate that your dog was killed, I have to ask why he was loose. What if a person swerves to miss your dog and wrecks their car? Guess that is their tough luck, huh? Leash laws and fences make everyone safer.”

Who will it be?

“We all love Tifton, but who will run for mayor? Some think it is time for a change. What do the readers of Rant and Rave think?”

Hard choices

“It is comforting to read in the paper and hear on TV regarding the wellbeing of seniors and pets regarding this terrible heat. What would be so helpful to seniors on fixed income for those of us that are fortunate to have central air or a window unit in our residence is if the power company would not raise the rates in the summer so that we on fixed incomes would not have to choose between being cool and comfortable. We have to make a choice between paying our rent or home mortgage and buying groceries. It is suggested that to save on power we keep our thermostat at 78 degrees or above, which is not comfortable and the unit still kicks on. Where is the savings there?”

Who decides?

“Widening to four lane divided from Eighth Street to 12th Street. Estimated cost is $2.67 million. Why? Who makes these decisions? And at that cost with so many roads in Tift County needing attention. Is there no common sense left amongst our representatives?”

Amen

“Amen to Mr. Brown. Because of the dress code being announced so late, Charles Spencer students will get their agendas late so that the dress code can be printed in them. The dress code should have been decided in June.”

Fake snakes

“To the person with squirrels in pecan trees, I had a problem with birds eating the fruit on a fruit tree. I put a couple of fake snakes in the trees and it kept the birds away. Don’t know if it will work for squirrels, but it’s worth a try. Good luck.”
