Electronics recycling event coming up Saturday

TIFTON — The Tifton-Tift County Electronics Recycling Event sponsored by Keep Tift Beautiful (KTB) and Tifton-Tift County Recycling will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kato Knight Parking Lot in downtown Tifton.

All people, businesses and industries of any size of Tift County and the surrounding area are encouraged to bring their re-cyclable electronics to the event. Commercial participants can call ahead for possible early drop locations and times that better meet their operating hours.

Electronics such as computers, keyboards, mice, laptops, servers, cell phones, circuit boards, wires and cables, docking stations, external/internal hard drives, tape drives, external modems, electric motors, transformers, sound equipment (such as receivers, amplifier, CD/DVD player, etc.), computer network equipment (hubs, routers, etc.), banking equipment (such as cash counters, magnetic card readers, check printers, etc.), test equipment (oscilloscope, voltmetesr, amp meters, power meters, voltage generators, etc.) are some of the items that will be accepted.

Also, telecommunication equipment (telephones, network switches, antennas etc.), AC adapters, power supplies, surge protectors, switch boxes, calculators, printers, monitors, UPS (battery), network/telecom racks/cabinets, fax machines, typewriters, scanners, overhead projectors, microfiche, VCRs, tape players, cash registers, office shredders, televisions, desktop copy machines and computer terminals will also be accepted during the event.

All items possibly containing personal information will be destroyed by crushing (hard drives, etc). This helps to prevent information theft.
