Tift Regional announces medical officers for 2010

Tift Regional Medical Center has announced the recently elected officers for the hospital’s Medical Staff for 2010.
Dr. Tibisay Villalobos will be serving as president and chief of staff. Villalobos is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She attended medical school at Universidad Central de Venezuela. She then completed her residency at Children’s Hospital of Austin, and a fellowship at the University of Florida. She practices with Affinity Health Group Pediatrics.
Internist Dr. Cameron Nixon will be the president-elect for the year. Nixon received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He completed his residency with Baptist Health System. He practices with Affinity Health Group.
Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Dr. Edward Hellman was named secretary/treasurer. He attended medical school at the University of Illinois. He then completed his residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a Leatherman Spine Fellowship. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Hellman practices with Georgia Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic.
Obstetrician/gynecologist Dr. Bridgett Asbury is the immediate past president. She practices at Tifton Women’s Center. Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Asbury earned her medical degree from East Tennessee State University. She then completed her internship in family medicine and her OB/GYN residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville. Asbury also served a fellowship in pelvic surgery at Emory University.
Department chairpersons were also named. Dr. Brent Savelli will chair the Medicine Department; Dr. Jeffry Peters, Surgery; Dr. Lee Edmondson, OB-GYN; Dr. Nandlal Chainani, Pediatrics; Dr. James Graham, Family Practice; and Dr. Todd Lilji, Emergency.
