Your Opinion: “Laus Deo”

I got one of my e-mails today,

it was just one of many;

it was about the Washington Monument,

in this land of plenty.

It was about two words on top,

on the aluminum cap;

it said no one can see these words,

probably don’t know they’re there.

The words are Laus Deo,

words that are written in Latin;

they simply say ‘Praise be to God.’

See, even buildings praise him.

It took 25 years,

to finally cap the memorial

with a tribute to the Heavenly Father

of this great nation.

There are people here today,

people who still hate Him.

It told about from way up top,

visitors take in the beautiful view;

that imposed upon the landscape,

there’s a perfect cross for me and you.

With the White House to the North,

the Jefferson Memorial to the South,

The Capitol to the East

and Lincoln Memorial to the West.

Why a cross you wonder?

What about separation of church and state,

Separation of church and state was not in the

Constitution

and then you begin to ponder.

The founders of this great nation

only looked to our Heavenly Father;

they knew that without Him,

they could go no further.

The memorial stones share a message

for everyone to see;

from the 12th to 24th landing

all scripture verses to read.

Praise be to God our Father,

for keeping our country free!

When one stops to observe the inscriptions

found in public places,

they will find the signature of God

throughout this wonderful nation.

When you think of the Washington Monument,

some things you might forget;

but the two words ‘Laus Deo,’

Praise be to God,

you must never forget!
