William ‘Billy’ Walker

William “Billy” Walker, 67, of Tifton died Monday, April 9, 2012 at his residence after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the sanctuary of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

Garrett Fiveash, Lee Caquelard, Ches Spivey, Kevin Reed, Greg Walker and Sonny Walker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult Five-Class III Sunday school class at Tifton’s First Baptist Church; his partners at Action Pawn, Harold Chambers and John Falotico; and the employees of Action Pawn.

Mr. Walker was born on Nov. 7, 1944 in Clinch County and was the son of Almead Smith Walker of Tifton and the late Carl Walker. He was the owner of Ace Computer Repair for 15 years, partner at Action Pawn for 25 years and Ace Pawn Shop for 15 years. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era from 1962-1966 and was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing guitar, reading, riding motorcycles and spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Poppie.”

In addition to his mother, Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Donna Hall Walker of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Robin Blease of Fitzgerald; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Landon Maxwell of Tifton, Lisa and Jonathan Hughes of Columbus and Roni and Nat Jones of North Augusta, S.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Al Caquelard of Tifton; and 10 grandchildren, Madsen Maxwell, Drue Maxwell, William Maxwell, Jaxson Hughes, Lilah Hughes, Alicia Blease, Jennifer Blease, Felicia Manor, Tori Manor and Katie Manor.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to Forward in Faith Building Fund, First Baptist Church of Tifton, 404 Love Avenue, Tifton, Ga. 31794.
