Life University’s wrestling program got off to a rousing start in its first year of competition in 2012-2013, sending four wrestlers to the NAIA Wrestling Championships in March and having one named an All-American for his weight class.

Looking to build off the success of their debut season, Head Coach Michael Miller made it a goal to nearly triple the amount of wrestlers from season one’s 15 members to 40-plus members in season two. Consider his goal completed.

Jeremy Bozeman from Tifton, one of LIFE’s 30 incoming wrestlers, is eager to join the returning team and make this season truly memorable.  He was attracted to LIFE because of the campus and Miller.

“He reached out to me and really got me involved,” Bozeman said.

Bozeman’s signing came at a recent event for all 30 of the program’s incoming freshman and their family and friends at LIFE’s Socrates Café. In addition to Miller, assistant Ron Gorman and Athletic Director John Barrett, LIFE President Dr. Guy Riekeman also attended this momentous event for the future of men’s wrestling at the University.  “We are a small school from Atlanta with a reputation for being the best at what we do – from rugby, to basketball and of course, Chiropractic,” said Riekeman.  “That’s also our goal for wrestling.”

Bozeman is currently undecided on a major and, like many of the rest of his fellow newcomers, hopes to help bring the team to nationals.  “I want to be an All-American and win a national title,” he says.

When his wrestling career is over, Bozeman plans to help out with his local youth program.  He is joining another former Tift County High School standout at LIFE, in all-American Trey Hicks, who placed fifth at the NAIA Wrestling Championships last season.

The Life University wrestling season begins October 24 with an Intrasquad Meet. They will travel to away matches and tournaments throughout November before returning home to face Truett McConnell in a duel meet.  For more information, please go to LifeRunningEagles.com.
