Mr. James Franklin Braswell, 64, of Tifton died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Lawrence Thomas and the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. Pallbearers are Mike Sorenson, Jeremy Watson, Waymond Giddens, Ed Giddens, Duane Lisenby, Michael Braswell and Taylor Braswell.
Mr. Braswell was born Nov. 29, 1949 in Tifton to the late Edwin Ray “Buddy” Braswell Sr., and Lois Inez Driggers Braswell. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Sue Watson and a sister, Lois Dianne Braswell.
Mr. Braswell was a 1968 graduate of Tift County High School and later attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He played softball and basketball at Chula School and was a former coach for different sports at the Tift County Recreation Department.
He retired from the Army National Guard after 31 years of service and after his retirement worked for the Henry County Police Department. Mr. Braswell was a member of New Covenant Church in Tifton. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves, the Hawks and the Falcons but his family was the center of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Lisenby Braswell of Tifton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Darrell Ivan Braswell and David James Edwin and Jessica Ann Braswell Sr., of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin Ray and Betty Braswell Jr., of Brunswick and Billy Green and Brenda Braswell of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Henry Hatley of Tifton; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Watson, Charity Pentescu, Rebekah Watson Root, Cassia Watson Sowords, Adria Watson Davidson, Susanna Watson, Taylor Braswell, Nicholas Braswell, David Braswell Jr. and Ashley Braswell; and five great-grandchildren, Jaden Watson, Jordan Watson, Cade Sowords, Calliana Sowords and Pierson Pentescu.
