Elizabeth “Betty” Hall Adams

STATESBORO — Elizabeth “Betty” Hall Adams, 86, passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2014 at Ogeechee Area Hospice.

The Tift County native had lived in Statesboro for many years. She was a member of Statesboro First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Crusaders Sunday school class. She attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus. Betty was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles Eugene Adams; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Hall of Tifton; and her beloved grandson, Charles Russell Whitaker.

Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Darby Adams Benson and Dr. Robert M. Benson Jr. and Leigh Adams Whitaker and Ken Whitaker, all of Statesboro; her grandchildren, Robert Benson III and his wife, Anna Hicklin Benson, of Charleston, S.C.; Bess Benson Toussaint and her husband, Dr. Nick Toussaint, of Statesboro; Laura Whitaker Howard and her husband, Andrew Howard, of Smyrna; a sister, Katherine Hall of Tifton; two brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Leon C. Hall of Rock Hill, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hall of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Patricia Adams Devane of Crystal River, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Caroline Toussaint, Catherine Howard and Robert Benson IV; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Statesboro First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Cason and her nephew, Dr. Charles P. Adams, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Crusaders Sunday school class of Statesboro First United Methodist Church. A private interment will be at Eastside Cemetery.
