TIFTON – More than 250 runners of all ages donned their best glow-in-the-dark attire and traveled to Tifton on Nov. 21 to participate in the Tifton Junior Woman’s Club 5K Glow Run and 1-Mile Fun Run, held to raise money for the TJWC Scholarship Fund and other service projects. The event was held at Northside Baptist Church and the crowd enjoyed black lights, face painting and music courtesy of DJ Nick McClellan. The TJWC looks forward to this being an annual event held each fall in the Tifton area.

Proceeds from the run help fund scholarships awarded to two graduating senior girls from Tift County High School, Tiftarea Academy or homeschool who demonstrate commitment to service and leadership. In addition to awarding scholarships, the TJWC participates in numerous community service projects and devotes time and woman power to other charitable organizations that need assistance.

Steven Johnson of Norman Park and Sloane Fletcher of Tifton captured overall titles in the 5K. Johnson took male runner honors with a time of 18:58. Fletcher won the female runner division in 20:59.

Bret Wagenhorst of Tifton and Guna Chee of Tifton took master overall titles: Wagenhorst with a finishing time of 20:28 and Chee with a finishing time of 24:17.

Austin Bennett and Olivia Mullis, both of Tifton, were the overall winners of the 1-Mile Fun Run.
