TIFTON – John Alec “Jaybo” McKinnon Jr., 63, of Tifton, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson with the Rev. Larry Layfield and the Rev. Chad Hall officiating. Jaybo will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Kim Miller, Ken Douglas, Randy Mason, Alan Hamil, Michael Purvis and Jeff Sumner will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil McMillan, Tommy Paulk, Gary Guess, Tony “Square” Stephens, Tim Stevens, Kenny Hawkins, Frank McLendon, Harry Keen, Chance Walker and Jaybo’s three nephews.

Jaybo was born on July 24, 1951 in Adel and the son of John Alec McKinnon Sr. and Mildred Louise Rentz McKinnon, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Allen Anderson, and a nephew, Phil Conner. He retired from the Georgia Federal State Inspection Service as a peanut inspector. Jaybo loved spending time with friends and family, hunting, fishing and his four-legged best friend, Daezee. He was of the Baptist faith.

Jaybo is survived by his wife of 32 years, June Daniels McKinnon of Tifton; a son, John Alec McKinnon III of Tifton; a daughter and son-in-law, Laci Jae and Eric Webb of Tifton; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sandy and Harry Keen of Cordele, Joann Anderson of Nashville, Linda and Frank McLendon of Nashville and Shirley and Ken Douglas of Leesburg; his mother-in-law, Zona Daniels Selph of Tifton; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Theresa and Gary Guess of Tifton and Barbara and Jim Herndon of Sylvester; three nephews; and 12 nieces.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Tifton Animal Shelter, 278 Georgia Highway 125 S., Tifton, GA 31794.
